1. How (and when) did you get started in the industry?
Over 6 years ago I started performing and directing for adult films and web sites. I got into the industry in order to fund my nonprofit queer community art gallery and performance space, Femina Potens. I’ve always been a kinky exhibitionist and wanted to participate in a powerful medium in which I would have an opportunity to create visibility for women who are aggressive around their sexuality and making myself open and vulnerable to connection with my on screen partners and at the same time have a chance to educate others around sex and sex positivity. Having a camera present for the last 6 years of my sexual growth has proven to be validating to my own sexual desires and to my audience.

2. If you weren’t in the adult industry, what would you be doing?
I’m currently engaging in all of the mediums involved in all of my major interests – sex, art, feminism, gender politics, education, and writing. When I’m not in front of the camera I’m either directing porn, directing my gallery, or writing essays for books on feminism and submission.

3. What’s the best thing you’ve learned or best advice you’ve received from the industry?
One thing I’ve learned and always stuck to is never engaging in anything that I couldn’t explain and stand up for to either press or my mother. I strongly believe in the work that I’m engaging in. I put all of my heart and body into this work. And I believe that it is important to develop a language around explaining what we do, how we do it, why we do it and the way that it effects us and our audience.

4. What’s the funniest thing that’s happened while filming?
I think the use of deli sliced turkey as a dental dam on the set of my film Art House was pretty humorous.

5. What do you think is the biggest misconception about women in the industry?
That women are forced or coerced in to getting involved in the industry out of desperation. The industry is full of bright college educated sexually aware women who are taking control of their sexual selves, exploring their deepest desires, and documenting it on film.

6. What did you do today?
I spent most of the day preparing press packets for Madison Bound Productions, worked on distribution, finished compiling my book proposal that is going out to my agent, scheduled two queer art events for the National Queer Arts Festival, booked two shoots for two features I’m shooting in LA this month, sent out art design for two of my upcoming releases, and bought groceries…

7. What would you rather have done today?
I have a really amazing life. There is very little I’d rather do. But a day off would be nice. I think I’m going to take off on Valentine’s Day and go hang out in Santa Cruz.

8. If you could do a movie with anyone (living or brought back from the dead) who would it be? Hmm… that’s a hard one. If fictional characters are included I would say Chris Parker from The Market Place Series. I’d also love to do a movie with Midori or Belladonna.

10. You’ve got 20 bucks left to your name; what would you do with it?
Take a potential porn producer out for coffee and pitch my company to her or him. Then take a friend out for a beer to celebrate new beginnings. Maybe go home with a photo booth photo if there is change.

11. If you were president, what’s the first thing you’d change?
Stop the war on porn and free health care.

12. What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done?
I forget people’s names or call people by the wrong name all the time which is pretty embarrassing.

13. Which is your favorite project you’ve worked on?
My favorite most recent project is Art House, Champion runs a close second. And I had a great time working for Tristan Taormino on her Vivid Ed series.

To clone myself

Dealing with dishonest people

18. What is your best piece of sex advice for women?
To not be afraid to be active and present in their bodies and to completely let themselves go and let all of their erotic energy and desires flood out from them and into their partner/s. Breathe. Communicate. And get lost in the moment.

My two current favorites this month are Live in My Secrets directed by Kimberly Kane and released by Vivid Alt and Champion by Pink and White
