TGIF. Today is a year to the day that we lost the King of Pop. I was planning a totally different Mixtape, but when I remembered, I figured some sort of Michael Jackson memorial was needed. Luckily I found the perfect way to honor M.J. – with an awesome dance video by one of his biggest fans – none other than porn star Wolf Hudson! Complete with white socks and a sparkly glove.

I’ve known about Wolf Hudson for quite some time now, thanks to my obsession with gay porn. He’s worked with a ton of hot gay studios like Hot House, Lucas Entertainment and Rascal Video and after seeing him take on Ben Andrews I’ve been a fan.
However, it seems like he’s popping up on my radar on a daily basis now and I’ve got to tell you, I love what this guy has to say! I mean, there’s crossover between gay and straight porn, but most men aren’t very open about it. Wolf is very clear about his open sexuality and it makes him even hotter. We definitely need more people in the industry like him!

I am a firm believer of teachable moments. It doesn’t take a classroom to educate… even in porn. Instructional pornos are awesome and so many of them incorporate facts and knowledge with super hot sex, but sometimes even the best ones can be a little too “teachy” for someone who is looking for a straight up fuck flick. That said, when I clicked on Open Invitation, I really never expected anything other than sexy folks fucking on film, and boy was I pleasantly surprised when I got schooled.
Starting off as a scripted, plot-heavy porno, this flick follows an in-a-rut couple (James Deen and India Summer) as they accidentally stumble into the sexy underbelly of the swingers/open relationship scene in San Francisco. This, awesomely, is where we get a really wonderful explanation of swinging and open relationships; how they work and why people would want to be a part of them. The conversation becomes a natural flow of the action and helps shape the story without being too heavy. Like I said, a fabulous teachable moment, sans chalkboard and diagrams.
Once the story is nailed as firmly as all of its players (heh), the director switches gears and integrates a real SF swinging party into the mix, with non-porn people and industry pros fucking alongside each other. I found there to be a slight variation to the camerawork/video that made it obvious that something was different between the parts of the movie, but overall the same high quality is consistent.
Although the camera still focuses on the key characters while they screw in the middle of the party, it still felt deliciously voyeuristic to see all the non-porn people fucking on the sidelines. And, of course, the entire scenario was something decidedly San Francisco – the sex positive capital of the west. Seriously, there aren’t many places in the world like the city by the bay.
While I loved the reality pieces in the second half of the movie, my favorite scene was the fifth, where India Summer and Lorelei Lee (Alison and Vivian, respectively) fuck each other silly in Vivian’s photo studio. They are no-holds-barred when they bring out the Hitachi and buzz out mind-blowing orgasms while plowing into each other’s pussies. All with a clean white background and professional photography lighting.
A commitment at a full two and a half hours, this full length Private party is well worth a watch.
I can’t decide whether I want to throw up on my shoes or sprout wings and fly… Jiz Lee, Courtney Trouble and I are running past the front entrance of the Palms Hotel and Casino, exactly three minutes late for the red carpet and the excitement is palpable. Tonight is such a big night and we have spent the last two hours gearing up for our shining moment. I’m wearing a sculptural black strapless mini dress and 6 inch heels, Jiz is in pinstripe pants and chaps and Courtney is looking fierce in a black striped dress with a gold bolero jacket and perfect make-up. And we match. Black and gold, all. Black because we are artists and gold because we are fucking stars. And yes, it’s worth cussing about because life at this moment is very, very good.
We make it to the line up inside a side room at The Palms and breathe a deep sigh of relief. In line is April Flores, looking outrageous in a pink latex confection. She hands me a bottle of snapple mixed with vodka and bless her, I take a swig to soothe my nerves. We made it – in more ways than one; to the venue, to the AVNs and to points in our careers that we each never fully allowed ourselves to dream of. When I did my first scene five years ago, I was just exploring a side of my sexuality and identity that was performative. I had no idea if people would like it. When Courtney started, she just wanted to make authentic and hot queer porn. And Jiz? Well she is just a badass, I guess we all are, we all have been and being here feels like a surreal moment of being cognizant of that.
In line, we are surrounded by other badasses. Joanna Angel and the Burning Angel crew are right behind us looking tattooed, fierce and sexy. Jenna Haze passes us in line and Belladonna and Bobbi Starr soon do the same. Up ahead is the press junket, a long line of camera flashbulbs and correspondents with microphones firing questions. We walk and pose, walk and pose and Jiz and Courtney flank me, two of the sexiest “shortys” I have ever had the pleasure of posing next to. This year the red carpet is running much more smoothly than years past, no one is fighting, a few attitudes are thrown around but hey, this is porn after all and attitudes often inform conceptualizations of sex appeal.
In addition to the quick walk, the lovely set-up and the different location, this year the AVNs have added a “Twitter Pit,” a group of Twitterers brought together for the sole purpose of tweeting about the event and hopefully getting it to trend on Twitter. In the pit are some of our queer porn loving buddies and high on the energy of the red carpet, we decide to pull a little stunt. By now everyone in the world has probably heard the news of Michael Jackson’s death yesterday. I was sitting at my desk working on backstage stuff when I got a text from my friend that said he died. I hopped on the internet to get the details and found out that it was only TMZ annoucing it, which is questionable, but after about an hour or so, CNN finally independently confirmed his death for real. So sad!
All day I’ve been trying to think of a way to blog about how sad it is and even remotely connect it to porn, and luckily the folks over at Fleshbot found this awesome clip of porn star Wolf Hudson busting out his MJ dance stylings and totally hitting the mark.
Hudson, who is apprently a huge Michael Jackson fan, also video blogged about the tradgedy yesterday as well.
