Last week we posted Violet Blue’s call for entries for the Our Porn, Ourselves contest. She was looking for short films of women telling us why they are pro-porn – a response to the Stop Porn Culture conference last weekend. It turns out that ladies all around the world whipped out their cameras and made some awesome films.
And now, the votes have been cast and the winners are in! And who should win but the fabulous Lexi Love, porn star extraordinaire! This awesome lady made an incredible short movie countering all of the bullcrap reasons that the anti-porn folks use to demonize sexy movies. Check out her winning movie below!
And check out the rest of the winning entries at Our Porn, Ourselves! Each winner won a dream package featuring a whole ton of awesome prizes – including a HotMoviesForHer “i <3 girl porn ” shirt, sticker, button and free porn!
Thanks for helping let the world know that ladies love porn too!
Happy Humpday! Welcome back to the midweek stretch! We’ve scoured the internet to bring you all the sexy news/links that are fit to print. We’ve got a bunch this week, so let’s get to it!
- Take a look at these colored squares, then back away from your computer and take a second look. Pretty awesome, right? Artist Adam Connelly creates these amazingly sexy pixelated porno paintings. A new appreciation for the arts? I think so.
- And speaking of art, a bunch of street artists from Freedom From Porn went around San Francisco showing Apple how unhappy folks are with their anti-porn policy on iPhones and iPads. (via Buzzfeed)
Happy Humpday! Welcome back to the mid-week stretch. Is it just me or does Wednesday seem to always sneak up on us? Not that I mind – who doesn’t love Humpday? Not only does it signify that we are closer to Friday, it means we get a little extra link lovin’! Can’t beat that with a stick… well, unless you’re talking about watching hot people gettin’ busy, but we do that all the time! Anyway, let’s get to it!
- Pretty hot cleavage, huh? Well, it’s actually butt crack! That’s right, this awesome photograph project is all about butts! Well, it’s really about female objectification and sexuality, but it features adorned booties posed with torsos and arms. Pretty clever, right? (via Jezebel)
- URL shortening awesomeness (they say fail, but I disagree). Hey internet, when you are going to truncate a URL, always make it this hilarious please. Thanks!
- Testicles for your truck just weren’t enough – you can now get balls for your iPhone. And no, it’s not an app. This new silicone cover features a ballsack hanging off the bottom. And I can’t even say anything bad because 10% of all proceeds go to testicular cancer research. (via Gizmodo) Read the rest of this entry »
The Stop Porn Culture Conference is going on in Boston next week (June 12-13) and to combat all the anti-porn sentiment, sex writer extraordinaire Violet Blue and other pro-porn feminist have set up OurPornOursevles.org as “a resource that aims to create an alternative and constructive conversation on the use of pornography by women, and in turn offer balance to the anti-porn feminist agenda.” (via The Examiner)
Jennie Ketchum is one classy lady. Until recently, Ketchum was known by all as Penny Flame, a feisty porn performer/director with an infectious grin and a whole lot of sassy sex appeal. While it’s pretty old news that’s she’s left the business to explore her non-porn identity (as well as go through Dr. Drew’s Sex Rehab on VH-1), it’s really now just coming to light how unique her departure actually is and how it defies long held stereotypes about porn and porn performers.
Lucky for us, Violet Blue caught up with Jennie and chatted her up about quitting on her own terms.
I hate the common exit strategy, hate that girls join the ‘god squad’ or feel ashamed of the choices they made but I understand it. I can see that it’s much easier to say ‘porn did this to me, or that’ but at the end of the day, we are all responsible for the choices we make. I chose to be a porn star. Now I’m choosing not to be. It’s the beautifully terrible thing about free will: we can do whatever we like but we must be held accountable for whatever we do. Just because I don’t want to be a porn star today doesn’t mean that I should feel ashamed to have been one seven months ago. It’s something I did and I’m not afraid to say I did it, loved doing it, and just don’t feel like it’s what I need to do anymore. Shame and guilt are useless emotions. The only way I would feel ashamed is if I’d decided being a porn star isn’t what’s best for me and then continued doing it anyway.
Check out the rest of her answers in Violet Blue’s SFGate article.
Gotta love a gal with such awesome self respect.
Just a quick reminder that Jenna Jameson and Violet Blue will be appearing on today’s Oprah to discuss Women and Pornography. From what Blue has said since the taping, it sounds like it should be a pretty interesting and fair look.
Oddly, this isn’t the first time we’ve talked about Oprah on this blog and while I’ve never actually seen her show before, I’ll definitely be tuning in.
Only in San Francisco. A coffee shop that doubles as a kink boutique is scheduled to open early next week. Wicked Grounds (what a great name), the first shop of it’s kind in the U.S., will be opening in the SOMA section of the city – the same part of SF that hosts the annual kink-tastic Folsom Street Fair. Planning to offer the finest coffees and teas, along with sandwiches, sweets, Wicked Grounds will also sell artisan fetish items, such as toys, jewlery and art.
What a freaking awesome idea. Seriously. I love bringing “taboo” culture into the light of day and creating safe, public spaces for people to live as they choose. While there was the topless coffee shop in Maine a few months back (it was burned down not too long ago), San Francisco really is the only place in the U.S. that would accept and embrace such a risque idea. They’ve even taken care of the only issue I found myself questioning – yes, Wicked Grounds will be an 18+ establishment.
Back in April when I was up at the Feminist Porn Awards in Toronto, I got to not only meet, but hang out with none other than queer porn performer/director and brains behind NoFauxxx.com, Miss Courtney Trouble. Over lunch we chatted about some upcoming projects and she mentioned a film she was working on that features a bunch of different classic scenes revamped and queered up. I just about fell off my chair in a fit of desire for this movie to get to my eyes immediately. And finally the time has come… well, the movie isn’t released yet, but I did find a trailer that works (via TinyNibbles - also some of it was shot in Violet Blue’s apartment as well).
Ladies and Gents, I bring you Courtney Trouble’s Nostalgia:
