Ian Sparks is one of the guys responsible for bringing queer porn to another level. His film studio, Trannywood Pictures, creates award winning movies that feature male-identified folks in all points of transition having hot, hot sex with other male-identified guys. 1. How (and when) did you get started in the industry?
About 4 years ago, I became one of the owners of a gay safe sex club in San Francisco (EROS). We have a very community, mission focused model that includes a free community classroom, art gallery and a lounge that is available for all gender events. We wanted to expand our safe sex message and our focus on normalizing a variety of body types. So, when we decided to try our hand at doing a niche film, it was either going to be a bears of color movie, or a gay trans men film. A couple of our staff were in Morty Diamond‘s “Trannyfags” and we realized we had enough talent to go in that direction. That was around 2006. My own screen debut was in a Colt Studio film, called “Beyond Perfect” (2005)….I just had a non sex roll, but Mr. Pam was one of the camera operators and I got a lot of screen time.

The 2009 Feminist Porn Awards, my favorite porn awards show of the year, is coming up later this week and not only am I super excited to see who takes home awards, I am extra thrilled because I get to be there! That’s right, HM4Her is sponsoring this grass-roots celebration of revolutionary sex positivity and hot, hot movies and I get to be a part of the action! I even get to present an award, which I am all squeallly (and crazy nervous) about. So, in honor of The Feminist Porn Awards taking place this week, I am dedicating the Top Five Tuesday to talking about my top five 2009 nominees. Picking only five titles out of the ridiculously awesome pool of nominees was really difficult and more than once I found myself thinking about renaming this week as “Top Ten Tuesday,” but eventually I settled on five that really grabbed my attention and had me fanning myself as I watched. Now that all of those breeders have left the building (and really, I’m just talking about dudes here), it’s time for the annual GAYVN Awards! Like the AVN Awards, this is the porno equivalent of the Academy Awards – only for gay fuck flicks. The actually show is in March in San Francisco, but the nominations dropped this week, and guess what… two of our favorite movies are up for awards! Well, in reality, there are tons of movies we love in the running, but I wanted to give a special shout out to these two videos in particular because they
a. are awesome
and
b. turn gender and sexuality norms on their head.
So congrats to Buck Angel and the guys over at Trannywood on your nominations for Best Alternative Release!

Trannywood Pictures always makes my day so much HOTTTer – with all those extra “T’s” for hot ass trans man action. And by hot ass, I mean all the hot asses being fucked up and down the screen that one reviewer can handle.  Finally! A porn movie full of female-to-male transmen, bears, bioguys, and so much more. Cubbyholes takes place at the real life Eros club in San Francisco, and never before have I wanted to be a gay man…but I really want to visit that club! The scenes in this film are super hot, and they mix up who is fucking whom: bioguys with F2Ms, transguy on transguy, you name it. My favorite scene is between Dex Hardlove and Ian Foxe, two transguys who get it on in the locker room. I love the idea of locker room sex to start with, and watching Dex suck Ian’s cock just made my fantasy come to life. Ian Foxe is freaking hot, and his piercing is pretty awesome too. Another great thing about this cutting edge film is that they use safer sex throughout (and we all know how much I love the latex!). The background music is awesome;No cheesy 80′s porno beats for these guys. The music is hip, electronic and goes together really well with the scenes.
