You may not know this about me, but I have impeccable taste in music. I was listening to an old Phatty Beatz mix and was reminded of this amazing song by Mount Sims. I immediately sent a video link to J.D. and proclaimed it our theme song, because, well, you know how we do.
Everything about it reminds me of our extreme awesomeness. Take J.D. for example, she still kicks kangaroos, and the way she combs her hair, like it’s 1982… How could you not love her?
And you’d better believe we come equipped with every kind of tool. I mean, we’re professional sex toy reviewers. We got game, bitches!
Anyways, it’s Friday, so take five minutes, break out your fanciest dance and get down to our song!
Welcome to another rainy Friday here at HotMoviesForHer.com. You know it just can’t be a great day when you walk into work with soaking wet clothing and sit freezing in a damp hoodie all day. Nope. So, I’ve decided to embrace the disgustingness of a miserable rainy day and go with the most misery-loving, dramatic, woe-is-me music that I could possibly muster up for today’s Mixtape rewind, and who better than Morrissey?!?
I’ve loved The Smiths since I was in high school and never fully got over the angsty teenage giddyness of watching Morrissey swing around a bunch of flowers and croon in his signature swoony voice.
Prepare to be subtly uplifted, in the way that only ’80s new wave melodrama can bring.
Have a good weekend. Fingers crossed for sunshine.
It’s FRIDAAAAAAAAY! TGIF, for real. Well, I’m a little irritable this week and the slightest thing is setting me off so I am seriously looking forward to the weekend. (To be fair to myself, it’s not the slightest thing but it is ridiculous nonetheless.) Anyway, my mixtape rewind is a little throwback to the early ’90s that always puts me in a good mood when I’m angry – “King of Wishful Thinking.” Thank you, Go West, for the gift that keeps on giving – even when your career hasn’t.
It’s Friday and that means it’s time to take a 3 minute break with the Mixtape Rewind!
I love the Ditty Bops. Here’s why:
1. The did a bike tour last summer. That’s right, they hit the road on bicycles from LA to NYC playing along the way.
2. They incorporate props & skits into their live show.
3. They sing cute songs about loving girls and the earth.
4. They’re not so bad on the eyes.
Anyways, this is total chick, spring music and well worth a listen. Enjoy!
I seriously can’t believe how nice it is outside. I always forget from year to year how fast it goes from chilly to amazingly warm and sunny. Spring is my favorite season by far and I am ready to get my relaxing on in the park!
Anyway, this video totally reminds me of everything I love about Spring. It’s not exactly a music video – more like some guy’s art project to a song i love by The Magnetic Fields.
I’m such a sucker for stuff like this too. I think it has something to do with when people who look genuinely happy, and I think they do. They have smiling eyes, or something like that. All I know is that I’ve been watching this on repeat and it makes my heart all aflutter each time.
Today is my favorite femme fatale’s birthday and I’m long overdue for a mixtape rewind, so this one is for her. This is probably one of the best Karaoke songs of all time, not to mention a song full of great lines to use to pick up girls. Of course, they never got me very far with her, but I love her anyways.
Hey, it’s my first mixtape rewind! I’m pretty excited about this. The ladies of HM4H brought me on board to add a new, fresh perspective to the site and I guess that includes my eclectic musical tastes. So it’s Friday, it’s warming up, let’s drink and dance and make some classic bad decisions.
My choice is “Lloyd, I’m Ready to Be Heartbroken” by Camera Obscura. Why? Well, the people in the video are dancing like one of those old Gap ads and the song makes you want to dance. It’s about meeting someone and being “footloose and fancy-free” and not really thinking about the ultimate demise of the relationship. So, ladies, I’m going to happy hour, having a margarita outside, and batting my lashes – I’m ready to be heartbroken. Bring on the heat, boys!
Update: Code is crazy, I’m not. Here’s the link, enjoy!
Well, we’re gearing up for Pat Benatar tomorrow night and I couldn’t think of a better song to capture her upcoming performance at this giant lesbian party than Love is a Battlefield.
I’m sure if I had been old enough, I would have listened to this song a million times in my dark bedroom with my high school girlfriend. It would have been totally dramatic, as every interaction we ever had was. So perfect.
Just for old times sake, I might call her tonight and play this song…then i’ll hang up and make out with someone else at a bar.
So I grew up at the base of the Adirondack Park and have always felt better being outside. Spring is here and I can’t wait to sleep outdoors and wake up feeling like everything is perfect. It doesn’t matter if I’m waking up on my screen porch or in my tent on what feels like the edge of the world – it always works.
Anyways, this song reminds me of wandering through the woods and racing up hills and lying with my shirt off in the sun thinking about the ice cream we’ll eat later. And that makes me smile.
Ooooh, my first mixtape rewind on the new blog! So much pressure to bring out the big guns – but not to worry, I’ve got plenty of total gems up my sleeves and ready to bust out at a moments notive.
Anyways, this is The Blow, back for a fabulous second engagement on the rewind. I figured as I started out this weekly music meetup with The Blow, I should really continute the tradtion for our brand spankin’ new blogging space!
Check out our first Mixtape Rewind with The Blow here.
This video is amazing! Not only do you get a genuinely adorable song, but there are animated magic ponies and all sorts of fun/weird creatures going on in the background. Now, I’m not gonna lie and say I was a little disappointed by the lack of unicorns… but I’ll deal… I guess. Enjoy!
