Alright, I know that I am gushing a little bit, but honestly, look at this woman’s repertoire and you tell me that you wouldn’t be waxing a little poetic. While we were both in Toronto for the awards a few weeks back, I had the great fortune of sitting down with Erika Lust for a chat about the work she does, her ideas about the industry in general and women’s sexuality in general. And lucky for you all, I got the whole thing on video. In fact, the interview was so long, we had to break the interview into four parts!
Before I post the video of part 1, I really have to say that Erika Lust is one of the sweetest, most down-to-earth folks I’ve ever had the pleasure of interviewing. She was nervous about being in front of the camera, but once she got going, her passion and obvious love for what she does took over and her amazing energy lit up the whole screen. See for yourself!

The build up to the Cabaret Desire review was totally worth it. The movie is the epitome of porn as art – well shot, true connection between performers and an interesting concept. The sex is sensual, passionate and visceral. Little vignettes are strewn throughout the movie which totally kept my brain aroused and entertained. Director, sex culture expert and all around amazing lady Erika Lust makes sexy smart porn for women that men can get off to as well. Cabaret Desire included. I will reviewing a new scene each week because this porno is so worth the watch. I might be drawing it out because I like it so much, but who’s complaining?

Performers and storytellers fill the cabaret. Couples choose which person they would like to listen to and are taken on a journey. We get whisked away to the new reality where the vignettes take place.
Scene 1 tells the tale of a woman with two lovers, a man and a woman, who share the same name. There are months of torrid love making, but what I love most is how the scenarios are made similar between the two. This is part of what makes Sofia so enthralled with her love triangle. The sex scenes are edited together as we flash back and forth between the two couples as the acts and positions are similar. You can feel lust, magnetism and that gooey feeling you get in your stomach early in a love affair. They want and need to tear each other apart and make each other feel good. You’ll get the idea by watching the video below.

The Frisky rounded up the 12 craziest ones – including two that feature Hitler… which is enough to put the breaks on feeling sexy at all. Seriously, who wants to think about Hitler before they get busy. I guess the ad works.
Diane Keaton is coming to HBO to do porn. Ok, well not DO porn per se, but to star as a feminist icon that tries to restart the movement by creating a porn magazine for women! How freaking awesome is that?! Now that Sex and the City has moved to the big screen, HBO has been lacking for overt female sexuality, especially in the over 30 arena.
I don’t know when it will come out or what it’ll be called, but I do know that I’ll be parked on my couch the minute it comes on the tv!
Also, maybe this will help maintstream folks better understand that yes, porn is for women too and yes it can be feminist. (And there’s even an annual award show for feminist porn!)
Two out of two lesbians definitely agree that they are super excited and think that Diane Keaton is the perfect casting choice.
ps. One lesbians (me) also agrees that this is totally going to be The Porn Librarian in 30 years. Both the job and the look. And she will still be just as awesome.
