There has been a ton of build up to finally getting to review Cabaret Desire… and it has been worth every second of it. It is the epitome of porn as art. It is incredibly well show, the performers have a true connection with each other and behind all of that is an interesting concept. I wasn’t just drawn in by the sensual, passionate and at time visceral sex, but the story kept me intrigued. It was more like little stories or vignettes withing the, but we we’ll talk about that shortly. My brain was totally aroused and entertained. Director, sex culture expert and all around amazing lady Erika Lust makes sexy smart porn for women, but I think men would absolutely love all of her films.
“There is a magical bohemian place where people go after dark to hear erotic tales.” Performers and storytellers fill the cabaret. Couples choose which person they would like to listen to and are then taken on a “journey”. We get whisked away to the new reality where the vignettes take place. These stories within the the story are hot. And beautiful. I am so smitten with Cabaret Desire that I have decided to review it scene by scene which means each week I’ll talk about a different scene. It deserves to be watched. I might be drawing it out because I like it so much, but who’s complaining?
Scene 1 tells the tale of a woman with two lovers, a man and a woman, who share the same name. There are months torrid love making, but what I love most is how the scenarios are made similar between the two. This is part of what makes Sofia so enthralled with her love triangle. The main sex scene between the two “couples” is edited together so that we flip back and forth between the two. The acts and positions are similar, making for beautiful editing. And wow is it just so hot. You can feel lust and magnetism. That feeling you get early in a love affair (for lack of better word). The want and need to both tear each other apart and make each other feel so good.

Diane Keaton is coming to HBO to do porn. Ok, well not DO porn per se, but to star as a feminist icon that tries to restart the movement by creating a porn magazine for women! How freaking awesome is that?! Now that Sex and the City has moved to the big screen, HBO has been lacking for overt female sexuality, especially in the over 30 arena.
I don’t know when it will come out or what it’ll be called, but I do know that I’ll be parked on my couch the minute it comes on the tv!
Also, maybe this will help maintstream folks better understand that yes, porn is for women too and yes it can be feminist. (And there’s even an annual award show for feminist porn!)
Two out of two lesbians definitely agree that they are super excited and think that Diane Keaton is the perfect casting choice.
