Dinah

As I mentioned in my lookback at Dinah 2008 (and again on Monday…), dyke culture magazine Velvetpark interviewed me about HotMoviesForHer and being a lez and all that good stuff when we were out in Palm Springs.  It was awesome - editor Anna Romer came and hung out and we had all this awesome conversation about queer identity and smart porn and sexuality.  Trust me, that’s such a nice change when the whole weekend is about dancing, drinking and partying. 

Anyway, the interview went live today on Velvetpark’s site!  I know I’m kinda nerdy because I get excited about stuff like this, but definitely check it out, along with the rest of their site.  Velvetpark does some pretty awesome stuff -  I still can’t believe there’s an interview with me up next to interviews with amazingly rad dykes like Guinevere Turner and Ariel Schrag!

Hmm… you know, I don’t believe that the actual Dinah Shore did heart the ladies… doesn’t really matter, though because I do, and I got to hangout with the chicks that attended the Dinah Shore Week for ladies that do love the ladies.  And hang out I did.  Onward to Part 2 of my photo adventure through lezzie land in sunny Palm Springs, CA.

This super cute queer had the best shirt ever!  I probably like it so much because I’m on it (J.D. = Jessica).  Not only was the shirt hot, the wearer was awesome as well.  She made the shuttlebus ride downtown a totally good time by aisle surfing and dancing around to the ’80s tunes pumping from the bus radio.

Hey! As the Porn Libarian said in her post, we’re back!  I’m sure you could see from our previous posts that we had as awesome time bringing girl porn to the masses. Well, you couldn’t really seeee it actually, more like read it, so here are my top pictures of The Dinah and all the debauchery and fun that can happen when thousands of lesbians take over the desert.  I’m breaking into two parts… leave a little anticipation…

Anyway, enough about the Babeland ladies, onward to the reality celebs, which is even better…  Dani Campbell, the unfortunate runner-up of A Shot At Love with Tila Tequila hit the desert to party with the ladies who love her.  Dani was really nice and excited about HMFH and our boxer shorts.  Hot!

I’m trying to come to terms with the fact that going to work suddenly means sitting at a computer all day again. After a week of talking to hot girls about porn for a living in my swimsuit, it’s a little sad to be back in New England in my trusty hoodie and jeans following up on a million emails.

Anyways, here’s a list of my Dinah highlights:

1. Pat Benatar. Sure she was good, but my favorite thing about the show was taking pictures in an attempt to capture the awesome 80-ness of the show. I’m sure everyone around us thought we were hilarious. Or annoying.

2. This dancer. I’m not down with lube wrestling or wet t-shirt contests, but I do enjoy watching women dance. This one was fantastic. Old married feminists have to have some joys, right?

3. The babeland girls. Smart, sexy and a lot of fun. Plus they gave me a shirt. One sure way to win me over is to give me a present, especially if it’s a book or t-shirt. OR a video of Belladonna telling me she wants me to look like a boy for my birthday.

4. Giving away great free stuff. We had a table at the Doral pool parties and there’s nothing better than handing out free crap. We had great I <3 porn boxers, stickers and of course, free porn! We also hooked up with Edensfantasys.com to give away some quality sex toys. I’ve learned that nothing makes you more popular than freebies!

5. The lovely ladies of Hm4Her! So I work remotely and never get to see these fantastic women. It was a treat to spend so much quality time peddling smut with them. Although now, I miss them so much it hurts.

Just an word for all of you nerds who aren’t sure if you’re up to the challenge of 5 days of constant partying in the desert - there’s a place for your here at Dinah Shore! While peddling smut yesterday, I met a fantastic girl who invited me to her place to pay scrabble for the evening. She talked a lot of smack, which I totally respect, and also had a super cute hat. Good thing my name is D. Bauchery, cause holy crap is a party full o women wearing white (and us, the half-hearted white wearers) a recipe for debauchery if I ever saw one. After a long day of travel we made it to Palm Springs yesterday in time to hit the opening party down at Mixies! Decked in our finest lesbian gear (jeans & t-shirts) we showed up appropriately late to a packed house full of girls who are definitely looking to make the most out of this weekend.

One of my favorite things about the opening party is that there are a lot of women who traveled a long distance to get here. I mean, if you’re going to fly in from New Zealand, you get here Wednesday to make sure you don’t miss out on one second of the action. We met women from Japan, Germany and everywhere in between and it turns out that, as I suspected, they love porn!

As a Dinah Ho, I have developed a very complex strategy to maximize our daily partying, without burning out before the closing party on Sunday. I can’t let you in on the dirty details quite yet , but it does involve staying hydrated, handcuffs and a lot of pool side rest.

We left a little on the early side (you try partying into the wee hours of the night after waking up at 4 am to fly out of your small regional airport) but I definitely have a good feeling about this weekend.

Tomorrow I have to get up at some ungodly hour to catch a plane bound for sun, girls and mediocre beer. While I’m obviously not excited about getting up to be at the airport at 5, I am super excited to get to Palm Springs for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend.
