Happy Humpday to all! Heading up to the NYC Sex Bloggers Calendar release party on Friday (blog post coming soon) and taking off on Monday for a personal holiday has got me buried under emails and porno watching, so let’s get to the link love without further ado…
- And speaking of people that make me a giggly and hot, Babeland posted their Babe of the Month this morning. Man oh man, not everyone can get me all flushed and grinning as they talk about the heteronormativity of mainstream porn.
- Which brings me the perfect segue into TheFrisky’s posting on the question of this holiday season. What are you getting mom? I was thinking about putting this under the old menorah.
I hope no one needs any incentive to vote in the upcoming election, but just in case you do, our friends at Babeland are giving away sex toys to voters in their Brick and Mortar stores! Check out the press release below for details:
If the Maverick rhetoric in the presidential campaigns is doing anything, we hope it’s motivating you to get out and vote. Which is why we’ll give you a real Maverick, absolutely FREE, if you vote. All men, not just Joe Six Pack, love the Maverick sleeve. He’s always there to lend a hand, he works for every man, and he bucks the status quo.
Wait, it gets better. We’ve got one more enticement for you to get out vote. A Free Silver Bullet, because that’s what our country needs right now, a magical solution to difficult problems. Babeland’s most popular compact mini-vibe feels fantastic and is a great stress-reliever during these troubled economic times!
Bring your voter registration card, ballot stub or your word of honor that you cast a ballot on November 4th and we’ll give you either a free Maverick sleeve or a Silver Bullet. This offer is good at any location in Seattle or New York November 4-11.

I’m not sure if you noticed this, but everything Tristan Taormino touches basically turns to gold. Whether she’s tackling open relationships in her latest book or teaching the masses the joys of anal sex in her educational video series - she consistently produces amazing sex ed materials. And if you’ve checked out any movies in her Chemistry series, you know she can shoot a pretty hot porno too! Like so many sexperts, she’s put in her time at Babeland and they recently posted a new interview with this amazing woman!
Here’s a taste, but head over to babeland for the rest!
What did you learn at Babeland that helped you in the wide world of sex education after you left? I think one of the most important lessons for me was to leave my own sex life out of it, and approach everyone without any judgment. I needed to meet each person where they were at. When someone said, ‘I am looking for something big,’ I asked them to show me what they meant, rather than assuming. You need to listen to people, empower them to ask for what they need and want.
You’ve long been seen as the “Anal Sex Guru” - did you have any idea starting out that you would become so associated with that particular sexual activity? Well, I did write the book on the subject! Really, I don’t feel pigeon-holed or anything. If I am forever known as the anal sex expert, I am okay with that.
Be sure to check out the fourth volume of Chemistry. It’s the orgy edition, so i’m thinking you’ll be glad you did!
To win this combo, send your name and address to me, The Porn Librarian, before Friday, Sept. 5 at 12 noon (EST). Make sure you put “G-Spot Giveaway” in the subject. I’ll draw a name on Friday and email the lucky winner!
Unfortunately this giveaway is limited to U.S. residents only. Sorry and good luck!
Oh, G-Spot. To some you are so simple, and to others, you are harder to crack than the Da Vinci code. A few months ago I wrote a basic intro to the G-Spot, but since then, I’ve received tons of inquiries to find out even more about the mysterious Gräfenberg Spot. So, I’ve decided to get down and dirty with our good friend G again and bring you all I can about our international man of mystery.
Plus – and this is a very exciting bonus – our good friends over at Babeland have offered to give us an awesome G-Spot lovin’ prize to giveaway to one of our lucky readers! The Orchid G + Smart Girls Guide to the G-Spot Combo! To win this combo, send your name and address to The Porn Librarianany time between Monday, Sept. 1 at 8am and Friday, Sept. 5 at 12 noon (EST). Make sure you put “G-Spot Giveaway” in the subject. She will draw a name on Friday and email the lucky winner! Unfortunately this giveaway is limited to U.S. residents only. Sorry to all you Canucks and friends on the other side of the pond!
Ok, back to the Spot in the spotlight! Before I get into the “even more” about the G-Spot, let’s have a quick look back at the basics:
I really like bullets. I have about a million sex toys, but when it comes to a quick orgasm, that’s what I usually reach for. As you can imagine, I was totally excited to check out the Grapevine Vibe.
Bullets are supposed to be simple, and in its simplicity, this is a good toy. It has four different speeds, and unless you’re a Hitachi-or-the-highway kind of girl, they will definitely do the trick. The control pack was designed for those mindless moments of bliss with just two buttons and the cord was just long enough so my girlfriend could control the speed while I teased her with the bullet. I would have appreciated a few more inches (that’s what she said) but it wasn’t really an issue.
On a recommendation from a review on Babeland.com, I tried inserting this bullet into a silicone dildo that came with one of those simple silver bullets that is either on or off and was very pleased. Whoever recommended this was a genius, because adding the ability to change speeds was definitely a step up from the standard bullet the dildo came with! I would recommend this toy just for that, to be honest. Oh yeah, make sure you use a little lube on it before inserting it into the dildo – this should make removal easy and keep the wires intact.
This bullet is made of a velvety plastic, which is non-porous and phthalate-free. It’s also really easy to clean, especially because it’s waterproof, so all you need to do is wash it up with a little antibacterial soap and hot water.
My only complaint is that this toy doesn’t have any vibration patterns, and nothing sets me off like an escalating vibe. Of course, for the price I can’t complain too much.
Overall, this is a good toy that’s made from safe materials, easy to maintain, and quite affordable. This is the perfect first toy for a friend or a cheap addition for those of you who know the importance of variety!
Welcome to the mid week hump. Here are a few links to get you through.
- Happy 15th Anniversary Babeland! Starting as the result of lookin’ for lube and love in Seattle, the once small sex toy shop is now one of the most awesome high end toy stores/online mecca around. Check out Fleshbot’s interview with founders Claire Cavanah and Rachel Venning.
- I think this New York Times Magazine article is about internet porn, but I’ve read it twice and can’t seem to follow a single thought this author is talking about. Maybe you’ll have better luck.
- Thankfully Boinkology is nice and clear with their points. Pie chart anyone?
I just finished reading a great three part blog over at babeland called “Do Straight Guys Like Anal?” Dallas started out writing about straight dudes, but has included a lot of info that’s relevant to anyone who’s interested in exploring back door sex. Here are her five keys to great anal play because I think are worthy of repeating: Read the rest of this entry »
Did I ever mention how much I love Babeland? Aside from being a bang up amazing sex toy company (as are all the companies we review for - check out our toy reviews page to check ‘em out), Babeland cares - about my pussy, about yours, about people in general really. And what better way to show you care than to make people cum for a good cause!?!
Enter the Papillon vibrator! A little purple clitoral vibe with a purpose other than just getting you off. Part of the proceeds from Papillon go directly to Living Beyond Breast Cancer®, an organization to help women dealing with breast cancer. Yay to Babeland for supporting such a good cause!
At less than $20, this 2-speed vibe is basic and inexpensive, but you know it has to be good -it’s Babeland.
Keep a look out for a HMFH Sex Toy Crew review of the Papillon in the coming weeks as well! I’ve never really needed a good reason to get busy with myself, but hey, I’m all about helping out where I can.
