The San Francisco-based Trouble has been making a name for herself since 2002, with the creation of her baby NoFauxxx.com (now the oldest running queer porn site on the web) and in more recent years as she has taken the reins on a bunch of avant-garde feminist porno flicks.

When she’s not accepting awards and accolades (including SF Guardian’s 2009 Best of the Bay Queer Porn and a Feminist Porn Award for “Most Deliciously Diverse Cast”), Trouble is behind the camera, giving direction to some of the hottest stars to grace the porno screen, including Jiz Lee, Syd Blakovich and April Flores, to name a few. Her first movie, Roulette, has just hit HotMovies4Her and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this fabulously fierce femme queer pornographer and the super hot fruits of her labor.

1. How (and when) did you get started in the industry?
I’m not exactly sure when my involvement with making feminist, queer imagery became an involvement in the adult industry, because at first it was an art project focusing on expressing “real” desires to equalize my experiences as a full-time fantasy-based (aka not-real) phone sex operator. I can’t pinpoint a decisive moment when I realized that No Fauxxx was a breathing entity in the porn industry. Except maybe right now, with my first film being released world-wide on a mainstream (and yet, extremely sex-positive!) level with Good Releasing, and is being reviewed and promoted by people like Fleshbot, Hot Movies For Her, and even AVN. Since the release of Roulette in July, I have been very busy creating my second, third, forth, and fifth films for Good Releasing (Nostalgia out now, Speakeasy out now, Seven Minutes In Heaven out October, Roulette: Dirthy South out November).

2. If you weren’t in the adult industry, what would you be doing?
I was 18 when I started doing phone sex, working from home. I taught myself web design and digital photo editing and printing in my down time during my 4-5 years. I went to school for photography, I actually have two degrees. I think if I weren’t lucky enough to be surviving (meagerly) off my art, I would still be doing something with photography or web design more commercially.

3. What’s the best thing you’ve learned or best advice you’ve received from industry?
If you stay focused and encourage yourself to be open to new connections, stay up all night working on your labour of love, spend your spare change on tools instead of material luxuries, eventually you will be able to make it. Take your time, because your vision will adapt and grow and make more sense the more patient you are. Work with people who have been in the industry longer when you’re just starting out – you’ll avoid terrible mistakes along your path. Allow muses and mentors in your life, because no matter how headstrong you are, you don’t know everything.

4. What’s the funniest thing that’s happened while filming?
There is an adorable blooper in my film Roulette of Rozen DeBowe and Donny talking into a Hitachi. It was 5am on Valentine’s Day. The scene is a queer gangbang, and Rozen sort of directs the whole thing. I can’t explain why it’s so funny with words, I just thought it was so sweet. Honestly, it’s giggle-enducing after 3 years of watching that scene. (Yes, it took me three years to put together Roulette.)

5. What do you think is the biggest misconception about women in the industry?
Maybe one of the biggest misconceptions is that female porn stars are starved for either male attention or fame, maybe because our fathers were absent or abusive. The truth is that many women get into the industry to make money or art or money and art at the same time. I know many people in this industry that could care less about the attention or the fame. We’re not looking for approval, we’re looking for a paycheck. There’s no shame in that and I wish that the stigmas around sex workers could be erased from our society.

6. What did you do today?
I woke up and called my distributor who told me that I needed to recode my film Roulette from scratch before it could be duplicated, and so I’ve been working on that all day. I also filmed two of my best friends doing their art project called BrownDownCrown, which is an online television show. You can check them out at www.browndowncrown.com – very rad.

7. What would you rather have done today?
Not have had to recode Roulette for the 2000th time. Maybe gone vegetable shopping, done my laundry, took my wife and dog to the park, and of course, filmed BrownDownCrown.

8. If you could do a movie with anyone (living or brought back from the dead) who would it be?
Bruce La Bruce or John Waters.

9. Who is your favorite adult performer?
April Flores.

10. You’ve got 20 bucks left to your name; what would you do with it?
Probably buy a bottle of whiskey and cigarettes because being broke makes me want to spend it on stupid vices. Sue me.

11. If you were president, what’s the first thing you’d change?
Dismantle the government/big business clandestiny. End the war and shift the offensive military budget to curing HIV, preventing teen & unwanted pregnancy, better education for our youth, and free college-level education programs. In other words, make us a socialist, green country with zero population growth.

12. What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done?
I regret only that which I have not done.

13. Which is your favorite project that you’ve worked on?
Roulette was the movie I made with what I had, and I will always love and honor the hard work and long-term dedication to that project. There’s a certain charm to it that will always outweigh a dream budget or all-star cast. But, I think Nostalgia (my next film) has been my favorite project thus-far, because I got to work with (and fondle) April Flores and Kimberly Kane, and I had Carlos Battsand Carol Queen involved – by far two of my biggest role models. And the soundtrack has four of my absolute favorite bands of all time, The Need, TWIN, Veronica Lipgloss, and Two Ton Boa.

14. If you could have 1 superpower what would it be?
Healing touch.

15. Meat or veggie?
Oh, meat. I was actually a vegetarian for five years though. I’d have to say that right now though, me and cheeseburgers are making up for lost time.

16. What is your favorite book?
One of them is “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter” by Carson McCullers. Another one is “Helping Me Help Myself” by Beth Lisick.

17. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Repetitive commercials and Valencia Street on a weekend.

18. What is your best piece of sex advice for women?
Don’t like your body? Take photos of yourself naked for a year and tell me if you still see 100% of your “flaws” after over-saturating yourself with images of your own skin. Take all the time you spend hating your body or trying to change it, and spend ALL of that time on practicing your mother fucking RIGHT to love your body just the way it is – because I bet you anything, you’re partner does. Good self-esteem? Good sex.

19. What is your favorite adult movie?
I’ve got a few that are equal to my favorite non-adult movies. They are: Behind the Green Door, The Devil In Miss Jones, Voluptuous Biker Babes by Carlos Batts, Morphine by Kimberly Kane, and Pirates 2. (Sorry, it’s fucking hilarious and the scene between Belladonna & Jesse Jane gives me goosebumps.)

20. Tell me one thing you’ve never told anyone else.
I can play “Young Turks” by Rod Stewart on the guitar.

Studio: Vivid Premium Category: PLOT ORIENTED -> Contemporary

This time I was craving a movie I could get lost in, and so I picked up the rather long “Cry Wolf.” With over a 2 hour run time, and more AVN nominations and awards than I can shake a stick at, I figured I’d be in for one hell of an engrossing movie.

Five minutes into the film and I can already tell I’m in for a major treat. The word that comes to mind first is, tasteful, really actually tasteful. I’ll admit that within the first few minutes the male lead has his tongue buried in Monique Alexander’s crotch, but the set, costuming and even the dialogue doesn’t scream wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am. One gets the feeling that you’re watching a particularly raunchy mainstream thriller, complete with sultry seductive femme fatale. That’s high praise coming from me since the lead, Monique Alexander, is the typical porn blond, but with natural breasts and the ability to recite her lines with conviction – so ok, maybe she’s not so typical after all.

Things get a complex when Monique goes back to a guy’s house for a drink and decides to have some pretty intense sex with him. One big plot hole that bugged the hell out of me – Monique raises cane when the guy crushes a pill and offers it to her, but then turns around with “a little blue pill” she can give him a few minutes later? Anyway I’m going to have to stop with the plot there because it starts to get twisty and I don’t want to spoil any of the surprises for you. I’ll say that it’s probably been done before but not with as much hardcore sex thrown into the mix, or if it was, not as much of an engrossing plot to go with it.

The sex – is unfortunate. The first scene was all over the place. Foreplay in the kitchen, change of location and some dialogue and a little blowjob in the bedroom, more plot development and we finally get penetration in the hallway that moves the bedroom and then there’s another break for more plot! I’m big on plot-heavy porn, but when it comes to getting off, stopping the action like that can put a serious detour in the path to my big O. There’s a truly random interracial threesome scene thrown in that’s much more together sexually but totally destroys the previous sense that the plot is paramount by feeling completely tacked on at the worst possible moment. Thankfully there are much better sex scenes coming. Eventually the sex to plot ratio seems to even out and things proceed at their usual porno pace for a while. By that point I’m already hooked by the movie anyway.

Well, I wanted something that could really captivate more than just my groin and I really, really found it! Definite recommendation, for just about everyone, the plot is awesome on this one and the stars give some truly great performances, I’d go so far as to say that “Cry Wolf” is craftsman level work. A near perfect marriage of plot and sex that could only have been made more spectacular if Vivid Premium had the same dedication to real female pleasure that Sweet Sinner does.

Studio: Rascal Video Category: Gay

I’m pretty sure I’m never going to get sick of watching Rascal movies. Lights & Darks (despite the bad title) is a totally hot GAYVN winner that is a must-see for fans of the hot man sex. I loved that this isn’t your typical interracial film. It seems like a lot of interracial flicks star gay for pay tops that have little interest in anything besides a paycheck. In this Rascal movie, you’ll see men of all races who definitely love dick. I thought that the first scene was the best, but honestly enjoyed all four. In the opening scene, Jake Samms and Tommy Ritter explode on screen. Samms has an amazing body and Ritter surely enjoys every inch of it! Samms holds nothing back as he pounds Ritter’s hungry hole – it’s a frenzied fuck that you really don’t want to miss! Also worth noting is Jason Tiya’s performance in scene two – just because I think he’s super hot. Another great thing about this one is that while it is an interracial film, it’s not based in stereotypes. Well, besides Brandon Lee being cast as the Laundromat owner, but that’s just funny. Anyways, it’s basically about hot dudes fucking – and I’m not going to complain about that!

Studio: Sex Z Pictures Category: 2008 AVN Award Nominees

And I won’t get too carried away, but for a non-Hollywood big budget flick, the special effects and sci-fi details were pretty damn impressive.

Studio: Girlfriends Films Category: 2008 AVN Award Nominees

The latest release in Girlfriends Films’ signature lesbian series, Women Seeking Women 30 follows the same formula that has won over both fans and critics alike. Studio: Buttman Category: 2008 AVN Award Nominees

Each of the Fashionistas movies has been highly praised by the industry and Fashioinstas Safado – Berlin is no different, garnering fourteen nominations this year. In the final episode of this groundbreaking series fashion designer Antonio, played by the uber-handsome Rocco Siffredi, goes to Berlin in search of inspiration and sexual adventure. What follows is a series of visually stunning scenes that explore the fine line between sexual pleasure and degradation. I really enjoy these movies and the latest is no exception. They are a little more hardcore at times than I typically find myself drawn to, but there’s no doubt that Berlin is a fantastic fuck flick. Every thing in this movie is considered carefully, from the scenery to the amazing fetish outfits. Because of this, you’ll find yourself paying attention to things you normally don’t even consider when watching porn. There’s also an amazing cast including Belladonna and Katsuni, two of my favorite big booty girls. I’d actually recommend watching the whole series, it’s pretty groundbreaking.
