What words strike you as “bad” ones? Maybe that’s a kind of weird way to start off a column on a porn site, because, let’s face it – you’re here for the bad words. And pictures. Or at least, the ones that are so bad, they’re good. But what about words that give you that “bad touch” skin crawly feeling? Everyone’s got them. For me, the phrases that make me feel icky are a few genital descriptors: “meat curtains” for labia and “blue veiner” for penis. Just writing that makes me feel gross, but luckily on the average day I can avoid any mention of those phrases because they aren’t especially common.

If there’s one unifying force that brings together female porn makers on either side of the Atlantic, it is a commitment to thinking through the process of making porn before diving in headlong. Last year marked the first year of the Feminist Porn Awards, sponsored by GoodForHer.com. Chanelle Gallant, manager of Good for Her and the event’s organizer explains: “Good For Her came up with the idea for the Feminist Porn Awards because people don’t know they have a choice when it comes to porn. Yes, there’s a lot of bad porn out there. But there is also some great porn being made by and for women. Haven’t heard of Audacia Ray yet? This woman has taken the industry by storm, directing her first film The Bi Apple (read our review!), which is an excellent female friendly film, publishing her first book “Naked on the Internet – Hookups, Downloads, Cashing in on Sexploration” and being an executive editor of the award winning magazine “$pread”, which is by and for sex workers. In her spare time, she curates the exhibit “Sex Worker Visions” and writes for Fleshbot, among other ventures. She’s like Visa – everywhere you want to be. With an MA from Columbia, and years of experience of different types of work in the sex industry, this sex positve, queer-friendly firecracker is a wealth of knowledge and experience and we’re super excited to have such a wonderful and empowered woman give us an exclusive interview.

Bisexual movie, huh? I wasn’t quite sure how that was going to be any different than a mainstream straight movie that had some lesbian action here and there. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This movie was hands down amazing. It was extremely sex-positive, and featured talent outside the general norms of what you see in porn.
