In the summer, I can’t think of any place I’d rather be than on an empty beach with a good book and a cold beer. This past weekend the clouds parted long enough for me to finish Simone Thorne’s Tales of Traverotica for Lesbians Volume 2 and a couple of Yuengling lagers – it was a glorious day.
Thorne has done a nice job of selecting well-written stories that take you around the world to explore lesbian sexuality in all its glory. I was actually surprised by how diverse the stories are – you’ll read about first love, vampires, and strapped boi’s putting on a show for a church group.
MJ Scott’s Out of a Bohemian Closet tugged at my heartstrings as a baby dyke yearns for her best friend on a trip to Prague – it’s a story that too many of us will be able to relate to. BB Rydell’s God is in the Details hits below the belt (in a good way) as she tells the tale of two queers driving down the California coast that can’t resist pulling over for a frantic fuck. It’s totally hot but I wouldn’t expect anything less from Rydell, an emcee for Seattle Spit.
Whether you’re sticking close to home or vacationing abroad this summer, this collection will take you places you’ve never dreamt of.
