Good lube is a necessity of good sex. While I’m not usually one to make broad generalizations (or at least try not to), I’m sticking with my tried and true mantra. Ok sure, you can have decent sex without the slippery stuff, but lube will always make it better and in some cases, decrease your chances of STI transmission and infection at all. I know – lube is a miracle substance! Three cheers for lube!
When it comes to lube, I have a few requirements that are pretty much deal breakers for me. First off, I need my lube to be water-based. I love my silicone toys and want to keep them in working order, which means silicone lubes are out of the picture. Because water-based lubes tend to dry out faster than silicone-based ones, I need a lube that stays slippery for as long as possible. None of that fast drying up crap for me please. I need my lube to be totally fragrance and taste free. I can deal with a flavored lube, if that’s what I know I’m getting into, but if I’m expecting not to taste anything and if I get lube in my mouth, it better actually be tasteless. I don’t care if it’s a delicious taste or a totally chemical taste – I want to be able to actually taste my girlfriend and nothing else. Also, a lube that gets sticky is a definite deal breaker. There’s nothing sexy about fucking your girl, only to find that your fingers are almost stuck together because the lube has taken a turn for the worst. It’s a mood killer if there ever was one.
I’ve been a big fan of Slippery Stuff lube since I first started using it about a year ago. Until I got the Slippery Stuff Liquid for this review, I had been using the Slippery Stuff Gel, which comes in a blue-labeled bottle, where as the Liquid comes in a red one. Both varieties share the same awesome slickness and keep things wet for a long, long time. And once they get a little dry, all you need to do is add a few drops of water or spit to reactivate the original slipperiness. Both are totally scent and taste free too, as well as glycerin-free (which means it won’t cause yeast infections – yay!) and great for sensitive bits.
The biggest difference between the Slippery Stuff Liquid and the Slippery Stuff Gel is the consistency. The Gel is thicker than the Liquid and tends to stay exactly where it is put. As well as being thinner, the Liquid Slippery Stuff feels a little closer to a woman’s natural wetness, which is nice.
But to be honest, I prefer the Slippery Stuff Gel over the Liquid because I like that it doesn’t go anywhere. I can put a dollop on my dildo and I know it won’t run all over the place when I reach over to put the bottle on the dresser. I might have liked the Liquid if I started using that kind first, but since I didn’t, it’s Gel all the way for me. But if you’re looking for a great, close to real, liquid lube, Slippery Stuff Liquid is the way to go.
