Every now and again it’s great to take a break from the wham-bam sex toy reviews and check out something a bit more intimate and sensual. So I was pretty eager to try out the new Massage balm by Intimate Organics. Ready for an adventure, I picked the Energizing Fresh Oranges and Wild Ginger flavor and went to town – literally.
The first time I got a chance to try this Massage Balm, I was running late out the door for a day that would include meeting my boyfriend’s mother and I forgot to put lotion on in my haste getting dressed. With a four alarm ashy knees crisis on my hands, I reached for the nearest moisturizer, which just happened to be this massage balm. Straight out of its tube the massage balm looks more like a homemade ointment rather than a lotion or its fancy expensive counterpart, a balm. It starts out translucent and relatively solid but quickly melts, faster than any ointment or lotion I’ve seen before, when you rub it between your palms. It’s also heftier on the palm than your average massage oil, staying put rather than running between your fingers and onto the bed, floor or your partner.
The scent was divine. Light, warm and citrusy, it lasted all day and was an added confidence builder for my mother meeting moment. I only had to take another step or sit down and I’d get a burst of the refreshing scent. On a hot summer day, that subtle fragrance was refreshing and not in the least bit over whelming. Nor did I find that the heavily fruity scent soured throughout the day as I’ve found other fruit based fragrances tend to.
After my experience using the balm in ways it wasn’t really intended, I was extra eager to try it out properly. I have problematic skin on my upper back and shoulders. It basically doesn’t like anything oily applied to it at all, unless I want to breakout in the dreaded backne. Maybe all these years I’ve just needed to splurge for more expensive lotions because there weren’t any break outs with this totally organic concoction.
Now I’m of two minds on the balms massage worthiness. I found getting a massage while using this balm far more fun than using it on my partner – and I’m not just being stingy. The balm is thicker than oil, which makes it just that much harder to spread than oil. So if you like your partner to apply more pressure while they massage away your tensions it works wonderfully by requiring that extra force to spread it around. On the other hand, if your partner likes a lighter, more sensual massage instead of the deep tissue kind, you might find yourself using much more of the balm to avoid adding pressure.
From the perfectly balanced fragrance to the way the balm stays put on your hand instead of your sheets, this product is awesome. I can’t rave enough about the way the fragrance lasts or how it didn’t break out my skin. Overall I loved my Intimate Organics Massage Balm experience and I’ll definitely be milking my tube for all it’s worth.
