When I hear the word “mini” in the name of a sex toy, I am usually the first person to pass. As a self-described size queen, I like my toys large and in charge – and for the most part insertable. So when Acuvibe Mini landed on my desk, I was hesitant to give it a go. But, as I don’t have much experience with massager style vibes, I figured I’d give this one a go and see how it measured up to the rest of my vibrator collection.
Before I tried out this vibe, the only other massager style toy I had used was the Hitachi Magic Wand, aka. the Cadillac of vibrators. Seriously, the Hitachi is one powerful mother. It’s also huge, heavy and plugs into the wall – three total cons. So when I saw that the Acuvibe Mini was a massager – a small, lightweight, rechargeable massager – I thought my prayers had been answered!
The Acuvibe Mini massager vibe is about 9” long, with a bulbous head and hard plastic handle (only for clitoral stim – keep that handle on the outside). Its small size makes it way more manageable than traditional sized massagers, both in length and weight. And like I said above, the Mini is rechargeable as well, allowing us to totally ditch batteries!
As all the cons of the Hitachi were taken care of with the Acuvibe Mini, I was hoping this dream massager would keep the one feature I loved so much – the power. While rechargeable and battery powered vibes don’t usually give the same “oomph” as their plug-in counterparts, I was keeping my fingers crossed that Acuvibe Mini’s rechargeable battery would buzz super strong. Unfortunately I wasn’t that lucky. It’s not that the Mini vibe doesn’t pack a punch, because it totally does, it’s just that I want that punch to be so much stronger. Of course, for anyone that doesn’t want their genitals half buzzed off, the Acuvibe Mini’s vibration power is perfect. Now the only problem is keeping it on.
I love rechargeable toys. They are way more cost effective and better for the environment than battery operated vibes, and a lot more convenient than plug-ins. I only wish that the people that made the Acuvibe Mini would have designed it to work while it charges, a feature that this vibe is lacking.
I’m not sure if all the Acuvibe Minis have this issue, but mine just doesn’t keep a charge. Even if I charge it for a few hours, it barely puts a dent into my journey to climax and all of a sudden, it’s dead. And you know there is nothing worse than that. The last thing I want is to have to scramble for toys when I’m in the middle of getting busy alone or with my girl.
Because of that, we tend to skip playing with Mini and instead opt for a more reliable toy. Well, maybe not “more reliable,” because Mini is reliable… just reliably half dead every time I try to play after a charge. I suppose I mean a toy that will reliably get me/us off without a three day charging to get through the first five minutes. Again, it might just be mine, but it’s a frustrating, and important aspect to an otherwise awesome toy.
While the charging issue may stop me from really recommending the Acuvibe Mini, if it’s a compact, quality rechargeable you want, definitely check out the Mia. For all your massager needs, I’d stick with the old standard.
Get into the action with an Acuvibe Mini of you own!
My Acuvibe Mini stopped holding a charge completely after a couple months. :/ Totally lame.
