Queer Ménage à Trois With Sophia St. James

Every once in a while, we have the great honor of welcoming a guest blogger into our smutty midst.  This time we have the delicious Sophia St. James on deck, offering up behind-the-scenes action, kinky info and interviews with fabulous industry folks.

For those of you not in the know, Sophia St. James may be a queer porn star, but that just scratches the surface.  She is also a queer femme, West Indian, curvy BBW, dominant, sassy,  gentle, a sex worker, erotic entertainer (stripper and burlesque performer), fashion/pin-up/glamour model, FemDom, porn starlet, event planner/promoter, mama, switch, daddy’s girl and slut with an insatiable hunger for all things sexual.  Quite an impressive identity/resume!  And to add one of my own, I’d like to say that Sophia is a total fox as well.

Our fantastic guest blogger kicks of her first post with a trio of interviews from within the queer porn world!

Menage a Trois is all about three sexy and desirable porn stars within their respective genres.  It is so hard to choose just one, so I figured why not have three stars to worship.  Besides, it’s more fun with three.

James Darling is one sex pot of a queer porn star.  He is based in Oakland and definitely has that Bay Area vibe.  I was recently in Vegas with James and had a chance to really get to know him better.

1.  How did you get your start in porn?

My first scene was for Crash Pad Series. My long distance lover at the time invited me to be part of a shoot and I happily accepted. I hopped on a Greyhound, traveled across the country and never looked back. I had no money, job, or place to live, but I couldn’t think of anything better than getting paid to fuck someone I was deeply attracted to in the way I like to have sex for a queer audience.

2.  What was the first porn you ever saw? Did that have a role into you becoming a porn star?

The first porn I remember watching besides scrambled stuff on the Spice channel was “Behind the Green Door” at a friend’s sleepover.  I was enthralled by the epically trippy slow motion cumshots.  I’ve have not gotten over my fetish for cum since.

3.  Who are the 3 top people in porn that you haven’t worked with but want to and why?

I have a lot of crushes but I think it would be really awesome to work with 1) Aiden Starr, because she is a stone cold fox and she’s a very talented and creative Domme; 2) Brenn Wyson, I really enjoy his work on Kink Men sites.  If you’ve never seen his creepy janitor scenes they are really hot; 3) Danni Daniels, because she is the badass Grace Jones alien superstar of porn.

4.  If you weren’t making porn, what do you think you’d be doing?

Right now my “day job” is working at a porn company as production assistant.  Being a porn performer is mostly a hobby for me.  So I guess I would just find another hobby.  What do other people do? Collect stamps? Build model airplanes? Take up rock climbing?

5.   Who are the companies that you have worked for?

Crash Pad Series, Queerporn TV, Heavenly Spire, Bang My Tranny Ass, and Good Dyke Porn. I’ve also been in movies & other productions by Courtney Trouble, Dolores Park Studios, Madison Young, Buck Angel, and Tobi Hill Meyer. I’ve also directed my own content for other sites that has yet to be released.

6.  Bacon or sausage? Why?

As much as I love the steaming phallic nature of sausage, it kinda creeps me out. I do love bacon though!  I do not use bacon-flavored toothpaste by any means, but eating it the morning after an amazing sex is pretty amazing.

7.  When you were a little kiddo, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I went back and forth between wanting to be a rock star and wanting to be a veterinarian.

8.  Who has been the biggest influence to you and your porn career?

Shine Louise Houston of Pink And White Productionss and Crash Pad Series, Courtney Trouble, Tina Horn, Ian Sparks of T-Wood pictures, Mandy Mitchell, Morty Diamond, ssspread.com, On Our Backs Magazine, Full Metal Faggot, Paul Morris, and Bruce La Bruce. Naturally Buck Angel, without him there would not be the presence of trans men in porn as we’ve come to see it over the past decade or so.  I’ve also always admired performers such as Syd BlakovichBelladonna, & Jiz Lee.

9. What are the highlights of your porn career?

Being a part of Jiz Lee’s 30 person orgy, the time I fucked on the edge of a cliff over the ocean for
Madison Young, riding Wolf Hudson’s beautiful cock, giving myself an ice cream facial, winning the 2010 Transguys.com sex performer of the year, speaking at Evergreen College, and most recently, getting to walk the red carpet at AVN with all my hot queer porn friends.

10. What is your favorite sexual position? Why?

If I’m bottoming I actually prefer missionary, I cum most easily when I’m getting pounded on my back. Maybe it’s my born-again upbringing ;) I’m also a big fan of the spoon-fuck. If I’m topping I prefer fucking from behind but I like all kinds of positions. I’m an ass man and I really like the amount of power I can put behind thrusts that way. It’s really fucking hot to watch someone’s holes devouring my hand or cock.

11.   Do you think of yourself as a top, bottom, or switch? Why?

Switch would be most accurate, but it depends on the person and our chemistry. Lately I’ve been more into topping women and bottoming to men but that changes all the time. I like to think I give as good as I take.

12.  Where would you like to see yourself in the next 5-10 years?

In the near future I’m planning on launching a site, but I would love an opportunity to travel around and shoot my own porn. Whatever I personally find hot, scenarios you wouldn’t necessarily see in most indie or mainstream productions. I would like to have more opportunities to speak at colleges and universities. I would also love to venture more into sex education as well. I want to continue to have hot dirty sex, of course only to inspire many other people to go out and have lots of hot dirty sex of their own.  And you know maybe start a queer porn militia.

Maxine Holloway reminds me of the sexy babysitter whom I would snuggle my head into their bosom as they gave me hugs.  She is full of old fashion sex appeal and her vintage style is to die for.

1. How did you get your start in porn?

When I was very young I tried to sell my panties online and even start a panty-selling website called “Moist Lace”. At that point I had very little exposure or info about porn. I remember writing a mission statement for “Moist Lace” and wanting the site to be full of authentic, sexy, real women who were getting off on each other. I knew that concept was really different than many other type of porn and panty sites out there, but didn’t really know why. Many years later in SF, I met Madison Young through working at her art gallery. Meeting her and seeing what kind of sex-positive porn she was making really resonated with me. She gave me my first invitation to participate in porn and I am so glad that she did!

2. What was the first porn you ever saw? Did that have a role into you becoming a porn star?

Haha, no not at all. The first porn that I saw was all these girls arbitrarily putting lollipops on their pussies and then sucking on them like they were bored. I always thought porn was going to be really hot and then when I saw that video I was really disappointed. I always liked reading about porn performers or watching documentaries about porn more than watching actual porn. Larry Sultan’s photography book “Porn Valley” definitely peaked my interest in that world.

3. Who are the 3 top people in porn that you haven’t worked with but want to and why?

Arabelle Raphael - I think she is a total babe, smart and I love hanging out with her. We get to do a performance together at the end of February and I am really excited. Arabelle’s ‘Let’s be hot, have fun and fuck’ attitude to performing totally resonates with me.

Jiz Lee- I am constantly impressed by the way Jiz performs. The intensity, hotness and playfulness is amazing! I am completely inspired by the way they create visibility and dialogue about gender, sexuality and identity on and off camera.

Sophia St James – YOU! I’ve always had a porn crush on you and after FINALLY getting to meet your cute butt in person in Vegas I totally want to work with you.

4. If you weren’t making porn, what do you think you’d be doing?

I think I would probably be involved with some of the the same kind of things I am currently doing: sex education, queer activism, feminism, art, photography – but waiting tables 40 hours a week to support myself at the same time. Making porn enables me to go deeper with all of these interests and actually binds them all together for me.

5. Who are the companies that you have worked for?

WomansPOV.com, MadisonBound.com, Nofauxxx.com, QueerPornTV, Kink.com, Good Releasing, kinkacademy.com, Girlfriend Films, skinvideo.com, MaxineHolloway.com and my own productions.

6. Bacon or sausage? Why?

Veggie Sausage, I eat it like 4 times a week. It’s yummy and a fast breakfast. But I like to sniff bacon.

7. When you were a little kiddo, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Rainbow Brite.  I dressed as her for career day in kindergarten.

8. Who has been the biggest influence to you and your porn career?

It is hard to pin that down to just one person. I feel like I am always being influenced and inspired. There are so many sex workers, activist and educators I have met this year that really motivate me and get me really excited about what is going on in the world of porn, kink and sex education.

9. What are the highlights of your porn career?

I have really enjoyed making my own productions. The first film I made with Lexxx Sloan was called “The Outlaw,” a tribute to Vixskin’s GIANT dildo about fucking outside the lines, showcasing some of my favorite porn performers to date. Then last summer I made a film called “Seeing Red” which involved a Magic Sex Fairy played by Tina Horn and a strip dinner party that questioned anti-pornography “feminist” Gail Dines. I really like blending my own vision of what is hot and sexy, it usually comes out a little campy, retro, playful with a queer and feminist twist!

10. What is your favorite sexual position? Why?

Missionary. I joke that because of all the porn and camming that I do, some regular ol’ missionary, lights off, no cameras, under the blankets sex with my boyfriend always sounds soooo delicious! But really I love being able to see someone on top of me, being able to tangle limbs, kiss and paw someone as we have sex is pretty hot.

11. Do you think of yourself as a top, bottom, or switch? Why?

I am a switch. It just depends who I am with and what our dynamic is. I love the versatility and options that come with that. I think power play is really hot and I really enjoy being with other switches who are able to go back and forth with me in a scene or even take turns. But some of my most enjoyable times doing web cam is Domming my slew of submissives. I really like being creative and facilitating an enjoyable, challenging (and sometimes torturous) experience for them. I would really like to do a Domme scene soon.

12. Where would you like to see yourself in the next 5-10 years?

In addition to being a performer, I am also a sex educator. Performing, sex education and activism are all intertwined for me. I have a performer run Live Sex Show called “Cum & Glitter” that just started this month – and I would love to see that take off into a regular event. I want to be involved in creating more community, opportunities and rights for sex workers. Right now I am toying with the idea of getting my masters in Public Health and would like to teach Human Sexuality, HIV/STI Prevention and Harm Reduction classes at a college level. I would also like to make a few babies and have a garden.

Papi Coxxx not only is full of sexy, they are full of smart, appealing wit.  They are a little bit of everything wrapped into a delicious package of yum.

1. How did you get your start in porn?

I was working at a sex shop at the time. My friend and co-worker, Morty Diamond had expressed some interest in the dynamics of my relationship. My primary partner and I were together 4 years at the point and had been successfully navigating a poly, kinky (D/s) relationship. In addition, Morty was interested in the fact that we were both trans identified and wanted to highlight some queers of color. Out of that conversation, “Trans Entities: The nasty love of Papi and Wil” was born. The experience of making that porn, feeling powerful and being acknowledged as a trans person (even with my clothes off) was amazing. Soon after, I shot for Pink and White productions for “In Search of the Wild Kingdom.” The rest, shall we say, is porn history.

2. What was the first porn you ever saw? Did that have a role into you becoming a porn star?

I seriously can’t remember. My porn intake was mostly via magazines. When I did watch porn, I never thought “that could be me.”  Porn back then, was hot but not as conscious as today.

3. Who are the 3 top people in porn that you haven’t worked with but want to and why?

The first person is Jada Fire. I’ve been watching her for a long time. I think she is just so deliciously nasty. I love her dirty mouth. She is sexy as hell and has a strong presence. The next is Syd Blakovich. She’s sexy. I love her gender expression. Her tattoos turn me on and It looks like she knows how to fuck…hard! Lastly, Drew Devereaux. Sexy. Sassy. I heart her mouth. I love her moves and she makes me melt.

4. If you weren’t making porn, what do you think you’d be doing?

I’d do what I’m doing now. I’d continue to write, perform, lecture and teach. My body of work has focused on gender and sexuality; specifically on queer, trans, kink and sexual liberation issues within a race/class dynamic. I love what I do.

5. Who are the companies that you have worked for?

Morty Diamond Productions, Pink and White/ Crash Pad, Trannywood, Queer Porn TV,  3 Minutes in Heaven Production, Slanted Tendancy and Poly Patao Productions’ ‘Dirty Brown’.

6. Bacon or sausage? Why?

Bacon. I like it crisp not mushy.

7. When you were a little kiddo, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a scientist and cure cancer. I had my mom get me a microscope and chemistry set. I was like a mad scientist growing up but then math came into the picture. I’m not the best at math so my scientific career and hopes of curing anything faded.

8. Who has been the biggest influence to you and your porn career?

This was a hard question. I really had to think on this. I would have to say Morty Diamond was my biggest influence. He was the one that planted the seed in my head. He saw the potential that I could have as a sex educator, a trans identified person, a person of color and as a person. It all opened up for me then.

9. What are the highlights of your porn career?

Highlights…Hmm? It’s hard to decide between, porn feeding my exhibitionist side, having great sex doing it, debunking myths about queer/ trans sex/ bodies or  engaging in radical sex education.

10. What is your favorite sexual position? Why?

If I’m getting fucked: Standing or kneeling with one leg up, while someone is fucking me from below. I get great g spot stimulation; I can take more and I usually cum hard and ejaculate. If I’m doing the fucking: I like the receiver to lie on their back, while I hold their ankles to their ears and fuck. I can do this on my knees but I can pound longer when I’m standing. I love this position because it gives me leverage. The receiver is able to take more and I can really get in there. I can use my hands around their ankles to rock their body and get into a good rhythm. It allows me to lean my body onto them and use my weight. It’s a great g-spot position because I’m helping to elevate their ass and tilt it for a getter g spot fuck.

11. Do you think of yourself as a top, bottom, or switch? Why?

I am a switch to the core!!! There is no choosing for me. I love to fuck and I love to be fucked. I can take as hard as I can give and I can get into a “high” head space doing both.

12. Where would you like to see yourself in the next 5-10 years?

I see myself continuing my work and passion but on a more sustainable level. I hope to have established 2 major projects that involve queer/trans people of color, sex education, and communal spaces. Of course I would love to have several books published and several more films under my belt.
