Pleasure Yourself. Short, sweet and too the point. My kind of ad campaign – for a sex toy. Oh wait… we aren’t talking about vibrators? Not exactly…

It’s chocolate. Fling, to be specific. The latest confection from Mars (the first new chocolate bar from them 20 years) just arrived and it ain’t your granny’s Snickers! Not only is Fling decidedly marketed towards women, what with it’s shiny pink wrapping and dainty ‘chocolate finger’ existance ["finger" is the industry's term for long, slim confection], its campaign literally drips with sexual innuendo.
It seems that Mars has taken the “sex sells” mantra to a whole new level. Taglined “Naughty, but not that Naughty,” the 85 calorie treat (I assume that’s what the not naughty naughtiness is about?) was also promoted with postcards telling women to “pleasure yourself” (picture above).
I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty confused. Do I fuck it or eat it? I certainly hope not the former – sugar and pussy = infection times!
This reminds me of those weirdo work out videos that feature dirty dance moves as aerobics to get the attention of the Sex and the City-obsessed generation. Gimmicky and a bit insulting.
My question is: If a chocolate bar can get away with being so sexually overt about women’s pleasure, why can’t we openly talk about female masturbation? Put that in your mouth and chew.
