New York Sex Bloggers Calendar Party Recap!

If you took one look at this blog in the last week or so, you probably saw how excited the Porn Librarian and I were to get to the annual New York Sex Bloggers Calendar Release Party on Friday.  Not only were we really amped to the 2011 calendar in all its glory, we knew it would be a night filled with all the delightful debauchery that comes with a room packed to the walls with sex bloggers, porn stars and more sex-positivity than you can shake a dildo at!  And boy, oh boy, we were not disappointed!

A little background before we get to the night:

The New York Sex Bloggers Calendar is a yearly (on their third year!) calendar that features folks that play an important part in the online sexuality world.  Once only open to New York sex bloggers, this year’s models were picked from an open call to sexy internet people all over the place.  As well as showing off some of the hottest bloggers our niche has to offer, the NYSBC is also a fundraiser for sexuality-based organizations, which makes it even better!  This year the calendar benefited the WoodHull Freedom Foundation, an organization that fights to affirm sexual freedom as a fundamental right.  Such important work!  That all said, we are totally excited that we were able to be a part of a project that is so integral to helping foster sexual freedom, and we couldn’t be happier to sponsor this fabulous calendar.

So, onward to our adventures in NYC!  The Porn Librarian and I both came into New York from our respective states on Friday morning and took our time meeting up and  getting to the hotel, since we knew we wouldn’t be able to check in til later in the day.  The PL was off doing her own thing, and I met up with the fabulous Shanna Katz, who some of you followers may know as Essin’ Em, a one time HM4Her bloggers and reviewer!  We had a lovely lunch and hit up Re/Dress (hot fattie vintage store in Brooklyn <3<3<3), where we picked up some awesome finds.

After our lunch/shop date, it was time to head over to the hotel in Soho and get ready for the party.  We met up with the Porn Librarian and her friend at the hotel and took our time getting dolled up for the evening.  Once we were rocking all of our finery (for the Porn Librarian that was a HM4Her ‘I <3 Girl Porn’ shirt), Shanna went her way to dinner with a friend and the PL and I hit the party venue early to interview the amazing Dr. Carol Queen – who really is the queen of sex education.  Seriously, everything that came out of that woman’s mouth was pure gold and I know I, for one, was totally star struck and giddy upon getting a chance to talk to her.


I don’t know if you noticed who’s sitting next to Dr. Queen in this photo we took, but it’s Nina Freakin’ Hartley!!  That’s right!  We got to finally meet the legendary Nina Hartley!  And not only that, we got to interview her as well!  It was seriously a dream come true.  All I’m gonna say is that you should really keep your eye out for all these interviews that are going to be coming up in the next few weeks.  Seriously amazing.  And I wasn’t the only one that had my dream come true… the PL got a little face (actually lap) time as well!


Jealous?  I know I am!  And if you look closely in the first picture of  Carol and Nina, you can see they are both rockin’ HM4Her pins!  Perfect product placement if you ask me!

The party was seriously packed to the gills and surging with the buzz of sexy folks talking about sexy things.  Along with a bunch of awesome performances and burlesque dancing, there was the annual huge raffle that is also packed to the gills with tons and tons of wonderful goodies (including HM4Her treats, of course!).


That’s seriously only a fraction of the table.  It was coooooovered in dirty delights, which also overflowed onto the ledge behind the table.  That’s where my raffle sweetheart lay… The Eleven.  If you don’t know of njoy’s Eleven, you need to and if you do, you know exactly why I would put all of my raffle tickets in one basket.  Alas I did not win the grand prize, but to be honest, I was barely paying attention to the raffle, knowing I had more work to do, which included a few more interviews.

First up we got to chat a little bit on camera with our friend Shanna Katz again, as she has begun to shoot porn herself.  Definitely check out her movie Dylan and Dani Starr, it’s really wonderful.  After our lovely interview about all the delightfully pervy things she’s been up to and what comes next, I slipped into a grungy little bathroom stall for quite the risque interview with the amazingly smart/sexy Dylan Ryan and finally got to do the interview I had been jonesing for since the Feminist Porn Awards back in April.  Two words – seriously awesome.  That’s all you need to know.  I unfortunately didn’t get any pictures of Dylan, but I promise that we will have the video up asap for you guys!

Who else did I drag into a shady bathroom stall with me?  Jiz Lee, that’s who!  They were kind enough to hang out for an interview and chat about all the awesome globe-trotting they’ve been doing in the last few months, spreading the porno cheer all over the world!  That interview is too one that you need to keep your eye out for.  Jiz is so lovely and such a smarty pants – you are in for a total treat.  I know this picture is a little blurry and dark, but look how fierce that gold bow tie is, and you can understand why I’d put it up.

There were so so so many people that we got to hang out with that it was such a joy to see again or meet for the first time.  I’m not even going to TRY to name everyone.  We got to hang out with Monica (Venus Vegas) that left us here at HM4Her last year.  It was SO nice to see her again, since she is all the way in L.A. now.  Also rockin’ L.A. is Jamye Waxman who was also at the party and such a joy to see!  So many people!  I would make this post even more shamelessly long if I tried, so I will end it at the night was freaking amazing.  Sex bloggers rule!  Thank you all for being so awesome!
