I got into the riot grrl revolution as it started to peter out in the late ’90s, but by then it was too late… I was hooked.  I was just coming into my own at that time, finishing up high school and moving into college and I was lucky enough to have a best friend with amazing music taste.  A queer riot boy with a collection of 7″s to kill for.  And no, for once I’m not talking about sex toys.  I’m talkin’ records.  I still have all the mixtapes he poured his heart into for me and there is nothing better than driving around on a spring day with the windows down, blasting a little Bikini Kill.  Ah, memories.

So, R.J., this is for you…. wherever you are.    HA, just kidding… he lives down the block from me with his boyfriend, a dog and a cat.  Still besties.

I don’t really get the video… I think it’s some sort of propaganda or whatever, but the dancing goes with the song, so I’ll cut it some slack.
