The week’s mixtape rewind is dedicated to how pissed off I am at Prince, who decided to come out publicly denouncing homosexuality.  It’s a sad day when someone who was once so totally sexual and seemingly sex positive makes it his business to judge other people based on who they fuck.  Sad sad sad.

It fustrates the hell out of me because I love Prince’s music.  I’ve been listening to him for most of my life (in fact, I found a journal entry I wrote in 4th grade, and the song below was listened as my favorite) and can’t help but dance when I hear his songs.  I even go to a local dance party that features only him, Madonna and Michael Jackson. I wouldn’t say I’m the world’s biggest Prince fan or anything, I just think the man makes a damn good song.  And while I’m sure I don’t agree with all my favorite musicians’ politics, it makes me angry that he feels the need to talk trash on us gays.

I’m not gonna boycott his music or anything like that and while I don’t think Prince is gay, I do think that someone who so blatantly crosses gender lines and stereotypes in his fashion and presentation would maybe be bit more open minded.  I’m just sayin’.
