So, I thought International Orgasm Day had passed, but apparently I was confused and thinking of National Orgasm Day (July 31) in the U.K. Or was is Global Orgasm Day (Dec. 22)? Anyway, point is I was wrong. Today is International Orgasm Day! The 10th annual to be exact. So Happy International Orgasm Day!
Vermont artist/actor Alex Hirka started I.O.D. ten years ago on an idea that came to him during a conversation about soliders.
“When armies walk across bridges, they usually break step because if you walk in step, you apply that much more force. You can actually cause damage by people walking in step,” he said. “That got me to thinking, ‘If you exerted positive energy at the same time, could that have an effect? I just thought that it would be great if people focused on orgasms for a day instead of whatever else. It wouldn’t be a consumer holiday; it would be just a day to have fun.”
