As LBGT pride month kicks off around the country – the first year that the President has included Bisexual and Transgender in the proclaimation – Chastity Bono has decided to publicly annouce his own proud proclaimation.
That’s right, I said him.
The celebrity offspring of Cher and Sonny Bono has begun transitioning from female to male. After rocking the entertainment world when coming out as a lesbian nearly twenty years ago, 40-year-old Chaz (as he known to friends and family) has re-opened the closet door to come out again, this time as transgender.
His publicist Howard Bragman commented:
Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity. He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by loved ones.
It is Chaz’s hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his coming out did nearly 20 years ago.
