Owner and founder of Burning Angel Entertainment, Joanna Angel does it all – writes, produces, directs, models and acts (dirty sexy acting!) – and has big handful of AVN nominations and awards to prove it. A small girl, she packs a big punch and has done for porn what those of us who want something other than your typical porn stars have been waiting years for. Her site is filled with the “sexiest bad-assed bitches on the planet” (I was going to put that in my own words, but really, she says it best)… and she’s also got some cute guys in her movies too (to name a couple – James Deen and Tommy Pistol… if only he were in more movies!).
If you’re into horror, Burning Angel’s spoof on H.P. Lovecrafts’s Re-Animator from the 1980s, Re-Penetrator, is a definite must-see. Silly acting, ravaging sex, blood spitting, and the most gruesome ending to a porno that you’ve ever seen (and I’m not talking anal cum drinking… but if you’re into that, nothing wrong with it either!). Joanna Angel is definitely the hottest writing, producing, directing, modeling, acting zombie ever.
How did you get started in the industry?
To make a long story short, in my last year of college, my roommate asked me if I wanted to start a porn site with him… and on a whim I said yes. It was partially because the silent pervert inside me was aching to be released, and partially because I just got fired from my waitress job.
If you weren’t in the adult industry, what would you be doing?
I would probably be in grad school.
What’s the best thing you’ve learned from industry?
To empty out the solution in an enema before you use it, and fill it up with hot water.
What’s the funniest thing that’s happened on set?
I wouldn’t call it funny, but before I knew the valuable advice about the warm water in the enema… I had an um… accident. I’ll stop there.
What do you think is the biggest misconception about women in industry?
People think that we are all victims, waiting to be saved. It’s ridiculous. Like… one time this guy who had a crush on me was like, “Joanna, I can’t watch your movies… I just think you’re so much better than that” and I was like… you think I’m better than what I am? That doesn’t make any sense. People think that all girls in this business are stuck here… like someone put a gun to our heads and said if you don’t fuck on film I’m going to murder you and your family… which is really far from the truth. This is a job, and much like any other job, some people love it, some people hate it, and some people just don’t care. Some people stay forever, some people quit and move on to something different, some people get promoted, and some people get fired. Seriously… this is a legitimate business, that people make so many assumptions about that just aren’t true.
What did you do today?
I sat on the computer and worked on my website (now here is my shameless plug) www.BurningAngel.com. It’s what I do on most days.
What would you rather have done today?
I’d rather have been at Great Adventure.

You know those guys, who like… break up with you, and totally break your heart, and then when you finally move on with your life and get back on your feet, try and get back together with you? I would send them all to jail.
Meat or veggie?
I was a veggie for a long time… Like 6 years. I was a vegan for about 3 years. I eat meat now, but not very much.
What is your favorite book?
Valley of the Dolls.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
Guys who have ponytails.
What is your best piece of sex advice for women?
Don’t be afraid of anal sex. It’s your friend!
What is your favorite adult movie?
One Night in Paris.
Tell me one thing you’ve never told anyone else.
I’m afraid of the dark, and I sleep with the lights on a lot. My electric bill is really high as a result of this unwarranted fear, and it sucks.
