20 Questions With Kelly Payne

Kelly Payne is one of the most interesting (and nicest!) people I’ve met in the industry. Working in the fashion industry with a degree from one of the top fashion schools in the country, she decided to further pursue her own desires of punishing the deserving and filling the void of good spanking videos.

1. How (and when) did you get started in the industry?
I actually got started in the industry about 10 years ago when I was about 26 years old. I began by doing live spanking sessions at a dominance house here in NY. After doing sessions for about 5 years. I was asked by numerous clients for videotaped copies of the sessions. This is how I began thinking about making videos. I ended up working with a Miss Janus Rainer (known by AVN as the Queen of Bondage) a woman who had been in the business for 26 years and had a successful fetish video business. After working with her for about 2 years I went on my own & with the help of my girlfriend and boyfriend I started The Kelly Payne Collection.

2. When did you realize that you liked spanking, and how did you decide to make it part of your life?
I knew I had a thing for spanking since I was a kid. At that time I did not know it was related sexually but knew it intrigued me. It was always a part of my personal life even if I did not get to spank anyone until I was in my twenties.

3. If you weren’t in the adult industry, what would you be doing?
I would probably be a fashion designer or working in the fashion industry. I graduated from FIT with an Associates in buying and merchandising and a Bachelors in fashion design. I grew up working in my dad’s deli and liquor store business, started working with him when I was 10 years old. So if I wasn’t in the adult industry I would either be in the fashion industry or working for my Dad.

4. What’s the best thing you’ve learned or best advice you’ve received from industry?
Best thing I have learned is to persevere and be persistent. The best advice I can give to anyone is something my Mom told me a long time ago “do something you love, do something you really love if you never want to work another day in your life.” Best advice from the industry? Not sure how much great advice I got from the industry, but I did learn from the industry to believe in your work and do not let anyone change your perspective. Believe in yourself and your product. What I also learned is that in this industry it is not always about having great material. Connections and bottom line seem to take precedence.

5. What do you think is the biggest misconception about BDSM from people who aren’t into it?
I think the biggest misconception is that we are really hurting the submissive person in the scene. They do not understand that the way they think about breast or pussy or cock or whatever it is to get them off, this is what BDSM does for people in the scene it gets them off. So the pain you think you see being inflicted on film or in real life scenes really feels good to the sub and satisfying. Also for many when something is brought to their attention that they do not understand it is intimidating. They do not see that it is all done with good intentions and for sexual gratification. One other BIG misconception is that BDSM people or fetishist are pedophiles and are confused about their sexuality when in fact I have found the total opposite to be true, they are not pedophiles and they are very comfortable in their sexuality, many come to accept their fetish and actually try to understand it more than others.

6. Who has been your favorite behind to spank?

13. What’s the funniest thing that’s happened while filming?
2 things – in Aunt Kelly 3 the table the guy was on the legs broke and it made an example, 2 the rope the guy was strung up with broke and he fell right on his butt. Luckily no one was hurt.

Oh one other thing, when you are in bed with someone do not start thinking about what you look like, your weight pleasing their every whim, just relax and be open to any thought that comes into your mind that turns you on. 18. What is your favorite adult movie?

My biggest pet peeve is incompetence and irresponsibility. I cannot stand people who are incompetent and who shrug off their responsibilities. I like to get things done. I can’t stand procrastinators.
