After my love letter to Justine Joli last week, I was in the mood to spend a little extra time with her, so I picked this flick out of pile of nearly 150 movies we have featuring the fabulous Ms. Joli. With all the AVN nominations and general acclaim, I figured this would be a good one to check out. I guess the best way to sum it up is to say that I was both right and wrong about that assumption.
Let me start with the good stuff. Justine Joli is amazing as usual. She is a quality actress who rocks the plot and dialogue just as much as she rocks the sexy action. She plays a disaffected, angst-ridden young adult looking for something more than her skeezy boyfriend has to offer.
In fact, Joli has a total girl boner for Riley Mason (um, so do we, Justine!) and spends the whole movie pining over her. Eventually she does get to fuck her (sorry for the spoiler), which is definitely the hottest scene (scene 5) in my opinion. Both women are so beautiful – Justine with her fiery red curls flying around, and you can tell that they are totally into fucking each other. I love it.
On the flip side of that – the stuff that wasn’t so hot for me was the plot. I do love me a good plot, but there was something a little too whiney and angsty this time around – at least to me. I mean really, they reference Anais Nin and Tom Robbins’ books? What porn does that? It’s a little hilarious, but not really something I want in my smut. I guess you could say it was too pretentious to be low brow, but not intelligent enough to be high brow.
Maybe I am being too hard on my porno, but hey, someone has to give them a run for their money, right?
