I picked “Hard Rock” out for two obvious reasons. One because there were two horrible movies in the last couple of reviews, and two because “Hard Rock” (better known as “Mezzo Forte”) is created by the same director as one of my favorite movies of all time “Kite.” So I had a little advance warning that “Hard Rock” was going to be awesome.
As expected of Yasuomi Umetsu, there’s major plot development throughout the film. A band of mercenaries are contracted to kidnap the head of a mafia family in a futuristic city so far advanced that they’ve created anatomically correct androids for fun (and hiding poisonous gas.) Murphy’s Law holds sway and instead of kidnapping their target, the team ends up with a dead body instead of the hostage they were sent out to nab. With the boss man’s gun happy daughter out for blood, the team quickly realizes that they have only a slim chance of survival.
This movie boasts two sex scenes. The first is a dream sequence that features an interracial threesome. The second scene features double penetration with a couple of recurring gag characters and the lead female character. Both scenes are super hot, though they’re a bit distracting, especially the first one, and don’t fit quiet as seamlessly into the film as those in “Kite.” With “Kite” you quickly get sucked in by the plot and rarely remember to complain about the limited amount of sexy action.
This films biggest drawback is so small it’s almost not worth mentioning – the dubbing. I’m not a fan of dubbing, anything, ever. However it wasn’t so long ago that I was a lazy new cummer to the anime scene and had only seen the limited number of anime titles that had already been dubbed over into English *cough* Sailor Moon *cough cough* and placed on network television. I also simply didn’t want to do all the reading that came with subtitles; I mean, exactly how were you supposed to keep up with the action? But I’ve since learned better and find myself quickly becoming annoyed with dubbed movies. For more casual fans of the genre though – it’s an awesome movie you’re sure to enjoy, especially if you speak French.
