When it comes to reviewing a movie I really love, sometimes it is hard to do anything but point and grin. That is about how I am feeling right now, as I try to put pen to paper (finger to keyboard?) and express just what I feel about this fabulous Dr. Carol Queen/Robert Morgan instructional butt romp.

As a sex educator myself, I spend a great deal of time figuring out exactly what information is important to fit into a limited time frame, and the best way to keep things fun, frisky and engaging. That said, I really can’t give higher praise to Bend Over Boyfriend for creating a truly sensual and educationally explorative experience for the viewers. Queen and Morgan (directed by the amazing Shar Rednour) bring a warm, informed presence to build an atmosphere of sex-positivity, as well as keep it hot enough to send sparks flying.

Bend Over Boyfriend, which I consider the seminal video of its subject (this is before Tristan Taormino brought her anal lovin’ to the educational screen), eases us viewers into the wonderful world of anal play and pleasure for men – focusing on men with female partners. Touching on all the important info, like lube, communication, toys and pace for the first half of this hour long movie, the flick naturally transitions into sexy activities and demonstration by the middle mark. Like I said, it’s difficult to find a good balance between educating and arousing, but these folks were right on the money.

One of my favorite aspects of this movie is that the educators and demonstrations are quick to show that there are many kinds of ways that pairs can have sex and communicate – from talking about various positions, to explaining more abstract things, like a woman with a strapped-on dildo feeling just as feminine as ever. The attention to detail and normalization of a fairly taboo act went a long way without ever seeming super process-y or preachy. That, to me, is the sign of a awesome educator.

All-in-all, this has been a movie I have loved for a long time and am ecstatically thrilled that we now get to share it with our viewers. So, whether you have an interest in boys, butts or even just bettering your knowledge base, definitely check this movie out!
