Right now I’m most excited about having a day off on Thursday, but there are a lot of things I’m thankful for besides paid holidays. One thing I love about my job is how much fun it is. Sure, I have stressful days when it feels like I’ll never get through my to-do list, but most days I really love my job. I think that’s a pretty rare thing and feel super lucky.
In celebration of turkey day, here’s my list of the top five things about porn and my job that I’m thankful for.

Bad Covers: At least once a day I stumble upon a bad porn cover image that makes me laugh out loud. Take this one for example – nothing says hot fucking more than a double decker bus… Whether it’s something that doesn’t make any sense like this, a ridiculous attempt at photoshop by amateurs or a picture of a woman sitting on top of a redwood-esq penis, they consistently brighten my day with their sheer ridiculousness. |

Fun Party Knowledge: I’ve learned so much about the fetish world and human sexuality and it makes me super popular. Did you know there are people who want to play pony and pull you around in a winter sleigh? There are! I am an endless source of awesome info everyone wants to know. I’ve sat at dinner with people who save lives on a daily basis who think I have the best job in the world. It’s sweet. |

Amazing Women: There are a ton of smart, fun, sex positive women revolutionizing the industry and it’s my job to keep up with what they’re doing. As a feminist, I’m inspired by their work and actions every day and for that I am totally thankful. I also get to work with really cool women who put up with my crap. In sweatpants. |

Good Porn!: There’s a lot of good porn out there. There’s a lot of crap too, but I get to watch a ton of great stuff all of the time. Whether it’s the new sequel to Ernest Greene’s O – The Power Of Submission or the latest hot queer title – I get to watch them and get paid for it. It’s a lot cooler than filling out PO’s or heavy lifting. Life is good. |

I like what you wrote about Ethical & Good Porn. I agree that it’s nice to not have to worry about how the performers were treated on a given production. I also like to watch porn where the performers look like they’re actually having fun as opposed to faking it. Unfortunately with such multitudes of really really bad porn where the viewer is forced to look at the various different ways a guy can poke a girl and the girl is forced to look like she’s really enjoying it, it’s hard to find what you might call “Good Ethical Porn.” Porn should be more that just a guy fucking a girl, it should be two (or more) people truly enjoying one of the most beautiful (and beautifully human) acts in the world…with each other. Unfortunately most of the guys that watch porn don’t agree, hence the saturation of porn in the marketplace like the aforementioned. I really enjoy work by studios like Femme Productions, Comstock Films and Strawberry Seductress. Do you have any suggestions for work that you consider to be in the same vein as these (Good & Ethical)? I don’t have any fetishes and I’m not into bondage or anything like that; I just like a guy and a girl (etc) enjoying sex and each other.
