Porn stars are definitely pop culture icons in society today, so it’s no surprise that they’re popping up everywhere. Sasha Grey will be starring in Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming flick The Girlfriend Experience and has been in numerous music videos. Ron Jeremy is on reality shows and debating at Yale. Hell, even my mother knows who John Holmes and Jenna Jameson are.
With this pop culture exposure, it’s no surprise to find porn stars, like mainsteam actors, who have musical aspirations. Today’s Top Five Tuesday is a collection of my favorite porn stars who hope to add a Grammy to the trophy shelf right next to their award for best squirting scene.
Freak of the Week: I don’t think Ron Jeremy has ever said no to any opportunity to promote himself. Thankfully, he said yes to making this fantastic rap video which features cameos from John Wayne Bobbit and Corey Feldman. Amazingly, this song was on the Billboard charts for twenty-seven weeks. I would be shocked, but Britney Spears most recent album hit number one so there’s a history of this sort of crap.
Deeper Into You: So I love Johnny Hazzard and I’m sure that his music has gay men ripping their shirts off and heading to the dance floor in clubs across the country, but I’m not really a fan. It needs a little acoustic guitar and some harmonizing, in my lesbo opinion. However, it’s pretty good for what it is and he’s hot, so it makes my list.
Rock and Roll in My Butthole:When Angel was working on Burning Angel’s new all anal flick Rock and Roll in My Butthole, she and a friend decided to write a song for the opening credits. The result is a hilarious and undeniably catchy theme song that is way better than most serious attempts at song writing.
Go Go Boy: After subjecting everyone to Ron Jeremy rapping, I figured I should actually highlight someone who isn’t horrible. Brian Pumper is one of my favorite male porn stars and besides directing, producing and performing in a billion movies, he’s a pretty talented musician. Pumper features his music in a lot of his videos for B. Pumper Productions.
The Way You Love Me: Apparently every gay porn star also has a music video. Besides being super duper hot Colton Ford can actually sing, which makes him stand out compared to a lot of other celebrities who put out albums. Ford actually left the adult industry in an effort to concentrate on singing and mainstream acting. Cindy Lauper liked him enough to include him in her True Colors tour, so you should give him a chance!
