Sitting in a corner booth at the 24 hours buffet, Jiz Lee and I are exhausted. She is slowly munching on shrimp while I sip my miso soup and we cover the details of the last few months. Its so pleasant to catch up and in amidst the jawing we express our enthusiasm for what promises to be an outstanding 72 hours. That being said, I’m wondering how I’m going to harness my mojo for the next 4-6. Tonight is the Good Vibrations/ Good Releasing party at the Venetian (sponsored by HM4Her!). It’s mustache themed, which is just my style and is going to be full of some of my favorite people from porn land and the world of sex.

We decide to finish up after our second go-round at the food line and scramble back to our luggage. Alas, because we haven’t been able to check-in to the Deluxe Love Tub Suite we are going to be sharing with Courtney Trouble, we grab our glamorous night garb and get ready in the bathroom of the Imperial Palace. Glamorous indeed.

By the time we hot foot it to the Venetian, me in five inch peep toes and Jiz in her buckled Doc Martins, we are ready for a cocktail and a comfortable place to sit. Making our way to the suite, the noise grows louder and we find the festive melee streaming out the door. Immediately I am taken by the sight of April Flores. I’m a pretty big fan and she and I have never met. Meetings like this are one of the reasons why this AEE is so fun for me; I get to be surrounded by those I admire and think are spectacular and talented.

April is only the beginning- through the doors I find a mustachioed Carol Queen, Dia Zerva and Wordman and who else but Jackie Strano, the very person I was just lauding in my last blog.

It’s a great party, full of shiny people drinking lip ticklers and talking about the pleasure of sharing space with so many other queer-positive, feminist, sexy people. Shaking hands and chatting about past and future projects, I’m clicking away at all the photo-ops and somewhat excessively hitting the snack mix with Aiden Starr while we discuss our most recent shoot, Fluid.

This party feels like the perfect start to my Vegas weekend and just what I needed to quell the tide of tiredness and get me in the mood to let the takeover really begin. Tomorrow the Expo floor, for now, the king-sized bed in the Love Tub Suite.
