Movie Reviews – Fetish

At this point in time, I would be pressed to say that Betty Page has, in fact, become a household name.  The iconic pin up is one of the most famous models of the ‘50s, and has even been touted as the “Queen of Pin Ups.”  Known by her signature jet black hair, bangs and blue eyes, Betty Page ruled the pin up and fetish modeling scene.  And it’s not shocking to see why – even in the quickest of clips, Page’s personality shines through to the camera.

While I wouldn’t say that The Best Of Betty is exactly a porno, I definitely think it belongs here on HM4Her.  Clocking in at less than one hour long, this documentary gives us a narrated tour through Betty Page’s life, starting at the beginning and moving into her extensive pin up/fetish modeling career.  The movie features a few of her bondage shorts, each with her engaging in light play while tied up in some sort of way.  Each of the scenes are from the ‘50s and ‘60s, so they are dated like you’d expect them to be.  Most are pretty good quality (for the time) and it’s easy to make out all the action.

Aside from all the amazing footage of Betty Page, I have to mention that I love the music they picked for this documentary.  It’s smooth, sexy and perfect for the time period they are trying to convey.  I love when people make sure to pay attention to getting those details right.  As I said above, while this movie isn’t exactly porn, there is definitely enough relevance to have it here on a porn site.  Betty doesn’t spend too much time naked, or even topless, but she is in super sexy lingerie most of the time, as well as bound up and featured in all sorts of dirty positions.  Yum.

Another thing I’d like to mention is that all of the clips feature Betty either alone or with other women.  Not sure why there are no scenes with men, but I assume it has something to do with the people who were watching preferring to see her with women?  Who knows?  All I can say is that, no, I am not complaining!

Today is Friday and we know that no one is interested in reading a whole bunch of words all the way through, especially since it is beautiful outside, but because today is Friday the 13^th, we knew we had to rock out a little themed porno.  Instead of writing up our regular review, we thought it might be a little fun to try a bullet list with reasons why you should watch this movie.  Here goes nothin’!

- The whole movie is in Czech, so we have no idea what it is about or what is happening.  Let’s call that “cross cultural exploration,” shall we?

- The music is some weird mix between a Dracula ballad and elevator music, which is nothing if not totally depressing and bizarre.  And it’s playing while two women are stripping out of school uniforms, which I associate with joy and happiness.

-  The storyteller is in some random room with lots of animal heads on the walls.  You don’t see many animal heads in porn these days.  And there is some sort of animal horn chair.

- Dueling enemas.  That is all.

- Czech is a beautiful language that’s warmth and caring is conveyed almost as well as the German language is.

- The uniforms they are in are weird, but cute, in a sailor-ish kind of way.

- The more I watch, the more I wish for subtitles.  It seems like a interesting story.

- If you are going to spank someone while sitting in a chair, try to get a chair that’s sturdy, and not one that looks like it’s going to break into little bits as you swat.

-  Making someone hold a cane between their butt cheeks is a totally sadistic (and awesomely kinky) punishment.

I was already hunkered down watching a totally different movie when my co-worker came over to my desk to tell me about this movie.  He said he thought it looked like something right up my alley… and boy was he right!  I dropped that other movie faster than you can say ‘smacked ass’ and hit the play button on this super hot, red-bottomed number. When I was posting the AVN Award Nominee gallery, I saw that a few of Julie Simone’s movies were listed.  I enjoyed reading the interview we did with her not so long ago and decided I finally had to review one of her pornos.  As it turns out, her work is fantastic.

Babes In Bondage 2 is just that.  It consists of series of scene in which women are tied, gagged and struggling to get free.  What I like most about this movie is that each scene is like a moving photograph.  Each setting and scenario is planned and intentional and I totally appreciate that.  There isn’t much going on in the way acts but the imagery is enough to make my eyes happy.

My favorite of them all was scene 3 starring Smoking Mary Jane.  She has a ballerina-esque body and is tied in such a way that she seems to tiptoe and “dance” throughout the scene.  The scene is quite beautiful.  While she is bound and struggling, there is definitely grace to her movement.  My only complaint here is that she tends to sickle or supinate her feet.  I’m a dancer.  These things matter to me.

The other scenes are definitely hot and even hypnotizing at times, but the movie does get a bit repetitive after the first few scenes.  I’ m not complaining, I just don’t need to watch the entirety of the movie in order to get my fill of bound girls.  While you could at the very least find something interesting about all of the scenes, I’ll say that the straight jacket action in scene 7 definitely spoke to me.  The Hannibal Lector-esque face mask was both a little scary and hot at the same time.

If you’re not looking for a ton of action, but love looking at ladies in bondage, I would absolutely recommend this movie.  You will appreciate it, even if you only watch a couple of scenes.
