Recently, two of my friends asked me about choosing condoms.  One of which had a bad experience.  It always bums me out when the women (or anyone) I love have a less-than-satisfactory experience.  I was happy to advise and I thought it might be a good time to share a little information with you guys.  Keep in mind that this isn’t a “how-to,” but instead more of a “help with choosing.”  The right condom is obviously important to men, but women are just as affected by the type of protection used.  Yes, female condoms exist, but this post is focused on the penis covering kind.

1. Latex or Non-latex (Polyurethane and Lambskin)  – One of the first things you need to decide is whether or not you’re going to use a latex or non-latex condom.  Latex condoms are the most common, but many people are allergic to them.  If you find that products made from latex irritate your skin, you don’t want that stuff coming in contact with your goods.  Polyurethane condoms are thinner, which could mean more sensation, but they’re not quite as flexible as latex.  Which one to use is based on your preference and skin situation.  *Spermicidal lube/nonoxynol 9 – I haven’t seen proof that this stuff works, but have seen tons of evidence that this causes unhappy vaginas.  I have also read reports of this stuff encouraging the spread of HIV.

2. Lubricated?  Many condoms come lubricated.  While I love lube and encourage using it, I tend to encourage people to use non-lubricated condoms along with their preferred water-based lubricant.  All bodies are different, but often times people have adverse reactions to the lube used on condoms.  You never know what you’re getting – glycerin, parabens or other chemicals that might cause adverse reactionse.  Go with a lube you are comfortable with.  Always use water-based or silicone-based lubricant!  Oil-based varieties break down condoms.  In addition, never use oil-based lube because it is difficult to wash from the vagina and in turn causes infections.  Here’s the rub – I have yet to find a non-latex condom that is non-lubricated.

3. Size – Condoms come in about 1 trillion different sizes and shapes.  Which one works best for you is based on his penis size and again, preference.  There are “regular” sized, large and slight variations among the different brands.  Some men choose the bigger condoms because they find the regular size to be too tight.  As long as you can smooth the condom down his cock and get all of the air bubbles out, you’re good.  Working out any air bubbles is a must as they can cause the condom to tear easily!  When it comes to the ribs, ridges and bumps it is up to you as to what you tickles your fancy.  Some people swear that texture makes all the difference while others feel nothing at all.

4. Flavored and Scented – No.  Just, no.  When you start adding flavors and scents to products you start adding for chemicals that are genuinely not good for your vagina.  There is a good chance you’ll have some sort of reaction to that blueberry blast flavored meat sheet.  Feel free to enjoy all of the fun you can stand with tastes and smells, but do it far away from your pussy!  One thing I do want to point out (that really doesn’t have anything to do with this is subject at all): Vegan condoms exist.  I had no idea.

For some queer or lesbian-identified women, feminine presentation and gender roles are not their preference and they instead gravitate to a more masculine presentation, and still identify as a woman.  Femmes, on the other hand, are women that embrace femininity, but do so in a more performed, intentional way.  While there are tons of relationships that include two (or more) butches, and two (or more) femmes, what I am talking about by butch/femme dynamics, I am referring to the ways that butches and femmes interact and relate with one and another.   There has been a lot of tension in the community in the past (and present) about butches and femmes replicating hetero-normative culture and perpetuating stifling gender roles, but we aren’t here to talk about that now… we are here to talk about how very hot these dynamics and relationships can be! Alright, now that we’ve got the initial info down, let’s get to it!

Along with having a thing for butch/femme dynamics, I also have a major boner for written erotica.  I’ve always been hot for the written word, but I’m pretty sure that watching porno for a full-time job has my visual erotica response dulled, which has increased my excitement for erotic writing.  And since “Sometimes She Lets Me” mixes two things that make me incredibly hot, it only stands to reason that this book should light me on fire.  And oh, did it ever.

Each of the 23 stories in this erotic anthology of hotness is perfectly crafted – never revealing too much too soon or dragging along.  In fact, each story is executed exquisitely, with just the right build up, climax and cool down.  Sound familiar?  And it doesn’t just read like a delicious orgasm, it doles them out, one after another, story after story making the reader’s face flush with that special red of arousal.  Or maybe that was just me.

I’m not even sure how to talk about which were my favorite stories, because each of the 23 had their own piece that tickled both my fancy and my bottom.  I will say that the folks who I knew would be amazing (like Sinclair Sexsmith and S. Bear Bergman) were every bit as alluring and wonderful as I had hoped, and many new names for me are now prominently etched into the subconscious of my spank bank.  Need I say anymore?

I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a studio named “Mike Hunt.”  I mean really, Mike Hunt ?  What am I, back in high school or something?  Don’ get it?  Try saying it out loud.  Anyway, I was a little leery of a romantic feature film from this studio, but I figured that It Was Always You seemed like a cute idea and I should give it a go.

From the get-go this movie was two things – high quality and totally cheesy.  Maybe it’s the premise, and maybe it’s the acting, but there is something inherently cheese ball about it all.  The basic idea is that a group of friends are getting older and starting to couple up and get married and the rest of the group wants the same thing for themselves.  One particular women, Heather, has this guy friend Ryan who she plays video games with and generally always has fun, but she’s never thought of him as anything more.  Until now…

The sex scenes in the movie are mostly her group of friends having sex with their boyfriends.  While the sex is hot and comes off as pretty romance, I can’t get over the cheesy music.  It’s a little too elevator music/Lifetime Television For Women for me.  It’s just too flowery, in my opinion.  I guess it helps make everything feel more romantic and “lady-focused,” but really it just makes me want to hit the mute button.  I don’t want to turn off the action, just add my own idea of hot music to it.

When Heather’s friends start to hone in on Ryan, she finally starts to realize that there may be more to him and their friendship than she thought.  That and a super sexy dream she had about him.  Woah hot dream sex!  It’s slow, sensual and totally packed with chemistry!  Not to be a spoiler, but at the end they finally wise up and get together to have lots and lots of smokin’ action!

Romantic, sweet and cheesy – the perfect mix for couples to watch together.
