I heard Simone Valentino speak at a $pread Magazine (a magazine by, for and about sex workers ) event in NYC earlier this year, and was entranced by the way she talked about how she prepared herself for a shoot, and was intrigued at how personal and sensual her preparation was. Her description of her tasting herself before she had to douche for a scene was vivid, and her presence was something to behold. Since then, I’ve been desperately wanting to watch one this film, and I’m so glad I have finally been able to do so.

This movie is excellent, no holds barred. “AfroDite Superstar” is a female directed movie, and you can tell. Everything I like in a good porn; *real* pussy eating, safer sex (condoms!), a decent plot line, masturbation (with good vibrators, not giant dildos), real bodies (real boobs, and some pubic hair as well), current events (wardrobe malfunction!), fun outfits, etc…well, it’s all in this film. It starts out like a “normal” movie – sex doesn’t start till a good 25 or 30 minutes in, but the acting is good, and the plot moves along nicely, so it’s worth watching. 

The first sex scene is AfroDite (Simone) getting herself off while watching herself on the TV screen, and it’s HOT. I think everyone should have a basket of marvelous vibrators on their bed. The scene between Isis and Kali in an artist studio is amazingly sexy – Kali has beautiful ink on her body, and when these two women are together, it’s like a masterpiece of art – just simply beautiful. Later on, the choreographer and “urban coach” get it on in (and around, and on) a brand new, bright red hummer, and DAMN. I’m not going to lie, I was really turned on. Sex while hanging out a sunroof? Let’s just say it’s on my new list. The end scene between Simone and Mr. Marcus is beautiful in that she finally realizes that it’s sexy to be herself (and the steamy sex doesn’t hurt either). 

This movie is without a doubt one of my favorite adult full-length features I have ever seen, and trust me, I’ve seen a lot. And for the feminist in us all – they have sporadic and empowering quotes from feminists through the ages, including Glorida Steinem and bell hooks. The director, Venus Hottentot, is a woman on a wonderful mission; she wants to portray real women of all types, colors, sexualities, you name it, in a film in which they can have fun, get off, and be real. In my opinion, she succeeds with this movie. Excellent film, a must see for everyone!
