Our first “20 Questions” With Erika Lust of Lust Films!

Erika Lust, founder of Lust Films, is much more than the creator of The Good Girl, which seriously has one of the best sex scenes I’ve seen in a long time (or even ever)… no joke - the music fits the mood and doesn’t have that creepy porn beat, the guy is super hot, the girl is very cute and natural, and the sex makes me very jealous! Sex culture expert and journalist, she also maintains a very entertaining and very sexy blog.

1. How (and when) did you get started in the industry?
I’ve always worked in the film, TV and advertising industries, and from there I decided that I also wanted to explore the adult entertainment genre.

I always had a great passion for audiovisual in general and I love sex, and for years I have been trying to find porn for me, that I would enjoy… but in that search I realized that there is so little good porn out there and so few products that attracts a young, modern, urban woman like me.

I like the idea of porn, the idea of voyeurism, to watch, to observe people having sex, the idea that the image seduces and excites. But very soon I realized that I didn’t like the porn that I found, it didn’t give me the emotions that I looked for. Almost everything seemed too slow, too boring, too ugly, sometimes even ridiculous, and with a very old-fashion look, at least for my taste. And of course it wasn’t created for women at all. And the few products I’ve seen that are supposed to be created for women, I liked even less…

So, one day I came to the conclusion that if I wanted to see my kind of porn, I was obliged to produce it myself!

2. If you weren’t in the adult industry, what would you be doing?
If I wasn’t in the adult entertainment industry, nor working with film, I would probably be working in some international organization trying to make this world a better place. I have a bachelor degree in Political Science.

3. What’s the best thing you’ve learned from industry? Or, what was the best piece of advice someone in the industry has given you?
Don’t trust anyone! Do it all yourself! The adult film industry is packed with men, there are very few women involved. And the men you will meet are mostly chauvinist, pigs and pimps.

4. What’s the funniest thing that’s happened on set?
A big muscled cocky guy couldn’t get an erection and he started crying! Male porn stars, and even guys that want to become pornstars are sooooo sure about their cocks and their ability with them… but when it comes to start the scene, only the true professionals can perform.

The adult actress Nina Hartley, recently made her stand-up comedy debut on the stage at the El Cid Restaurant in Elysian Park, Los Angeles. She made the crowd laugh explaining how difficult it is for men to break into the porn movie business.

“Here’s what you need to know before making a porn movie if you’re a guy,” Hartley said. “If you’re going to be a porn stud, you have to get it up hot and cold, early or late, hungry, tired, car in the shop, girlfriend left you, rent overdue, cat ran away, phone turned off, in the back seat of a car, on a staircase, in a cold hot tub, on a sandy beach, a marble floor, a piano, and if you’re really lucky, you get a shag carpet somewhere in The Valley, or maybe a bed. But wait, wait, wait: There’s a hot light burning your balls, and there’s a guy saying, ‘Move your scrotum; we can’t see the action.’ … Wait; the girl is pretty - no, she’s ugly. She’s helpful; no, she’s really a bitch. She’s talking on the phone. Oh, she has a cold; she’s sniffling. She doesn’t give very good head; she isn’t being very friendly - and you have to wear a condom! So I’m taking applications after the show, and if you think you can handle that, then I’ll think about managing you.”

5. What do you think is the biggest misconception about women in industry? What are the most significant changes (for women) you’ve seen over time?
The most obvious misconception is of course that all women in the industry are being abused, that they are poor creatures not knowing what they want for themselves. Most women today know what they want; they are running their own career and many of them have a great deal of power in the adult industry.

Still I think it’s important that more women get the chance to produce and direct. I want to see more female perspectives of sex and pornography.

6. What did you do today?
Right now I’m preparing my next DVD that hopefully will be in stores this fall. It will consist in three short stories for women. I’m writing scripts, casting and working in the preprodction.

7. What would you rather have done today?
I love what I’m doing, but if you insist, as it is really hot outside, maybe I would rather have gone down to the beach, I live 10 min from the beach in Barcelona. I love the Mediterranean Sea!

8. If you could do a movie with anyone (living or brought back from the dead) who would it be?
Unquestionably I would die to direct Angelina Jolie in a rough 3some.

9. Who is your ‘favorite adult performer?
Right now I’m into the new star of Lucas Entertainment: Ben Andrews (Big Ben :)

10. You’ve got 20 bucks left to your name; what would you do with it?
I would buy a bottle of ABSOLUT VODKA (Made in the Country of Sweden, my Country!) and a few lemons and ice.

11. If you were president, what’s the first thing you’d change?
I would approve a law that enforces new presidents to pass a serious exam before accessing the presidency: culture, manners, values, general knowledge, etc…

12. What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done?
I peed in a corner of the dance floor in a famous club in Barcelona, and got expelled for that. What a night!

13. Who’s your favorite star that you’ve worked with or your favorite project you’ve worked on?
So far I would have to say THE GOOD GIRL. Claudia Claire and Lucas Foz were both wonderful actors and persons.

14. If you could have 1 superpower what would it be?
The power to make men last as long as I need in bed :)

15. Meat or veggie?
Definitely meet, I’m carnivore, I love raw meet!!!

16. What is your favorite book?
Now I’m reading “FEMALE CHUVINIST PIGS - Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture” and it’s being interesting so far.

17. What is your biggest pet peeve?
When my flat mates don’t know how to optimize the space in the dishwasher. I think it’s so obvious where every single thing should go.

18. What is your best piece of sex advice for women?
I tell them to read a masterpiece called “Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man” (Regan Books, Harper Collins)

19. What is your favorite adult movie?
Behind the Green Door.
